Update on Tracker Lithiums (little lengthy)

Post by Fast Eddie »

So took the boat to the dealer, and he claimed all the batteries are fully charged and were load tested. When I inquired as to why the exterior charge indicator showed red all the time, I was told to ignore them because they never work right.
Becoming more frustrated (dealing with the owner of this Ranger dealer) as to what I was told, it just didn't make sense. If all was ok why, when I left this morning did I have green lights across the charger, didn't do anything but tow the boat there and now the 3 lithiums were red on the charger (1 10%, 2 30%). Oh, ignor that I was told. Well, as the owner stepped away, leaving the service manager and another employee listing to me, another customer who had the same problem and had his charger replaced was back because the new charger had failed too. (521 c with Tracker Litiums and same charger)
Before I go too deep, the owner was looking for any port in a storm, as they removed the tm propeller and found lots of that silk grass wrapped around the shaft, telling me the seal was bad and the motor overheated. This happened to me at Shasta in the fall (TM quit), and there is nothing like that in Shasta and the shaft was clean. Finally the service manager put a meter on it, and lithiums need 14.3 when charging. The charger was pushing only12.2. Bingo. (I hope) Confidence is shaky at best right now regarding this place. They wanted to give me the same charger again, but I dropped the dough for a Noco.
Probably going to get me Ionics when all is said and done, 1 36 volt 100 ah, and 2 12 50ah for the electronics. For you ghost guys, after a day in the delta if you've been in the grass (like Connelly), check yourTM props after each trip. *They're not like Minn Kota weedless wedge for sure)
Will update again when the new charger has had a chance to be installed and used. Probably in a couple of weeks (I do not believe the dealer is a WB sponsor, but don't know)

Fast eddy…. Question, u said you were dealing with a ranger dealer in your last.
….I ordered a ranger 188p with those same bass pro batteries, hasn’t arrived yet but this is raising a red flag. Curious which dealer you were dealing with, maybe the same one I ordered from in Feb. I know you didn’t mention the dealer in your post, which I understand, but would really like to know if it’s the same dealer I am dealing with…. If u could…..thks

Sorry to hear about the issues you are dealing with on the new boat. Totally unacceptable in my view (especially the doubt and hassle the owner is providing). You should not have to pay for a new charger after what you have had to go through. I would make them give you a credit for the batteries and charger and replace them all.

FYI, I installed 3 ionic 12V 50's a couple of weeks ago for the trolling motor and love them. The price is way better then the trackers (I paid less then $1K for all 3) and the bluetooth app is awesome to see use and status. I use Rick's old Minn Kota charger and have had no issues. 9 hours in the hurricane winds on the delta and I still had 60% plus left on them when I got home. See you on the water.
