Delta Launch Ramp for Memorial Day Weekend

Post by WCBasser »

I'm planning to fish Saturday and maybe Monday. Being a holiday weekend, I expect there will be big crowds. Where's the best place to launch in the central delta on a holiday weekend? I'm most concerned about parking and ramp congestion (although I'll plan a safelight start).

Tiki lagoon may be less busy due to the crappy road to the launch. The ramp may be a problem based on low tide so you may need to plan accordingly.

Good luck!

Prior to storing my boat at Whiskey Slough I split time launching between Holland Riverside and Lazy M. Launching at low tide on Lazy M can be a little tricky, but not too bad. At all cost I would avoid Orwood on a holiday weekend unless bikinis are your priority.

I decided to try B & W Marina first. Holiday congestion was a complete non-issue. Even on Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, when I arrived at about 5am there were only 3 or 4 trailers parked at the ramp. A few more arrived while I launched, but it seemed like (or even a bit less than) an ordinary Saturday. No congestion at all. On the water was similar. By the time I got back (about 7pm) there were just a few trailers left. Don't know if a crowd came and went, or never came, but it wasn't the "zoo" I had expected.

If you're considering going fishing, don't let the holiday stop you.
