Fears confirmed on the lower Colorado River

Fears confirmed on the lower Colorado River.jpg
DENVER — For National Park Service fisheries biologist Jeff Arnold, it was a moment he'd been dreading. Bare-legged in sandals, he was pulling in a net in a shallow backwater of the lower Colorado River last week, when he spotted three young fish that didn't belong there. “Give me a call when you get this!” he messaged a colleague, snapping photos.

Minutes later, the park service confirmed their worst fear: smallmouth bass had in fact been found and were likely reproducing in the Colorado River below Glen Canyon Dam.

What about the Rainbow and Brown trout found in that stretch of the Colorado River, below Glenn Canyon Dam?

Can't blame the dam for the chub's decline so they blame it on a non native fish so the money keeps rolling in.
Pretty much the same tactic they use here.

So your biggest fear is finding fish in a river ?

You may have to call him up and deliver the message. :D
It's job security for him anyway so I don't know what he's whining about.

So what happened when the river was low or high decades before the dams were built? These fish plus others moved way up or way down river based on water temps and food supply!
Smallmouth should be the least of their fears and the water mongers/Districts of SoCal should be their greatest fears!

Hey Patriot one, you’re right. Seems our government is more concerned about 3 little fish than the millions of illegals that are swimming across the Rio Grande 🤦‍♂️
