I had new lithium batteries (crank and 36v aux) installed at CnC marine new castle in Jan of this year. The Ranger 3 bank-on board charger was configured to drop a bank and tie into the charging of the lithiums (Bluetooth charger). My disclaimer is I have run the boat once since January and that was the day after I picked it up from CnC.
I am trying to get the dust off the gear and take my kid out fishing and the on board charger is flashing red and from my research it means that “no battery is detected”.
Has anyone experienced this and can I trouble shoot it?
Thanks-

Re: Onboard charger/lithium battery question
Your batteries may be too discharged for your onboard charger to sense them. I'm doubting they are bad, as you said they were new in Jan. Try a separate charger that is compatible with your batteries.

Re: Onboard charger/lithium battery question
Guy, Check out my post on page 8 Lithium Pros Update. Long story short, Pro series chargers don't charge lithiums unless they are specifically made for lithium. Check out the Pro series charger page (Using whatever search engine you want) and you'll find a different charger they make specifically for lithium. I was told the same thing. I purchased a new NOCO charger on several recommendations and haven't had a problem since. With the ranger I was only getting 3-5 hrs of operation after a weeks charging. My dealer was to replace my Pro series and I'm still waiting.
Also try Jay Liu's Service in Redding (google for his number) He does the trolling motor repair and knows alot about the batteries.
Good Luck

Re: Onboard charger/lithium battery question
I have a pretty identical setup…if I don’t use it for several months I have to charge the three batteries individually with this thing:
https://www.amazon.com/Schumacher-SC135 ... 53&sr=8-10
…before the main charger will recognize them….just a few minutes on each one and then the main boat charger will work. I’m sure similar chargers would work fine too… it’s kind of a pain so now I make sure they never get that low.

Re: Onboard charger/lithium battery question
You might try contacting Procharger & see if they will reconfigure your charger to work with lithiums.

Not being computer literate, I figured it out I think.

Re: Onboard charger/lithium battery question
In short,
Jordan and Jeremy at CnC marine are awesome!
Thank you all for the replies and help!
Here is what was learned;
Well.. towed the boat back to CnC after trying to isolate the problem. Jordan (the lithium battery expert at CnC) knew what the problem was before I got two sentences out. Not only did the patiently explain how the system worked to me, they showed me. Basically.. as stated, these lithium batteries go to sleep if not used. They showed me how the onboard charger is a tender and if it doesn’t at least detect 9v it doesn’t work. They tightened everything down, checked just to make sure nothing else was wrong and just were cool and pros about it. Lesson learned and I highly recommend these guys. It’s worth the drive.
Thanks for all the replies and thank you C&C in Newcastle.

Re: Onboard charger/lithium battery question
First of all you need a charger that can be programed to at least AGM or Lithium. I suspect that you have a drain, and the battery is discharged. To wake it up disconnect the battery and jump start it with your truck or a heavy-duty charger. This will wake it up. A charger that is programed for anything other than AGM or lithium will ruin your battery. Remember too that an AGM setting might take longer to charge. Been running lithium pro since they came out so I have encountered a few issues. Any issues that I had where resolved by upgrading the charger. Just upgraded to a 215 AH starting battery. It is a beast.
Good luck.
Good luck.
