31-pounds - for 5 win FPT Berryessa

Every now and then someone wins a Super Lotto drawing - twice, or, in extremely rare occasions, lighting will strike TWICE in the same place.

And that was surely the case for anglers Luke Lipanovich and Joe Mariani at last Saturday's 21st annual FPT season opener on Lake Berryessa, as once again, this team not only won this opening season event, but also dominated the field with an incredible 5-fish limit that rocked the scales just shy of the 31-pound mark!

Highlighting the axiom that bass fishing can at times be a "hero to zero" experience, both Luke and Joe - communicated to the crowd at the awards ceremony, that they had pre-fished the previous day and caught absolutely nothing.

But come game day, they used both wit - and their Humminbird electronics, to locate an off-shore pod of fish - in 60-feet of water, that fell victim to their "spooning" presentations. Even more impressive was the fact that two of the fish they landed from those depths, went over the 10-pound mark!

For their 30.73 pound stringer, they received $3,800, PLUS an additional $8,000 in Nitro Rewards cash, making their take-home pay for this event $11,800 dollars!

Congratulations Luke and Joe on a well-deserved victory!

High-School "Dynamic Duo" - do it again

At only 16-years old....these young guns are the wave of the competitive fishing future!

What's even more amazing, is that 2nd place honors for this event, were once again captured by the same team as last year, the high-school duo of Quade Lobo and Cole Gendreau of Las Plumas high-school, who came to the scales with an impressive bag weighing 16.51 pounds. For their efforts, the took home $2,200 dollars!

All we can say is.....Rumble young men...Rumble....and tell you Ol' timer - "Silver-back" anglers, that these young guns are on the move and VERY SERIOUS about their bass fishing!
