Atlas Hydraulic Jack help

Post by Fast Eddie »

Yesterday while fishing nor cal bass and burning 20 gal. of fuel, when I returned to the ramp, the hydraulic jack would not go up. (It does power lower though). This is the second time this has happened, although the last time it wouldn't go up or down.
Anyone have any ideas of what could be wrong? Really don't want to lose time at a dealer this time of the year as the bite is just about ready to go ballistic. (I think)
Thanks in advance

Hopefully something simple, you say the relay up has power? Possible a check valve or something like that.

Check the fluid level to make sure it''s full. hen check the relays by switching the BLUE wire and the Green wire. If the relay is bad, then the plate will go UP but not go down. If that's the case, you'll need a new relay. I'd advise changing both of them.

Note: If the oil is low then you have a leak somewhere. Oil doesn't evaporate. Just a reminder.

FE is it that the Motor Trim isn't going up or the jack plate I not moving up? I hardly ever adjusted my jack plate except when running shallower water or needed more bite. it sounds to me as either the pump is failing or there is air in the line - can you bleed it?

Mitch got it right. Its the relay. I understand that there is a number on the little square relay boxes and they are plug and play and are available at Napa AP. TH is sold out, and don't think I need the whole harness.
Thanks all

Great Info .

Where are those relays located under the back deck in Battery compartment ? I know where trim ones are in my Opti but have never had a problem with the plate. Just wanna know for reference.

Thank You

Had the same thing happen to me. I replaced the whole harness as I figured it would be a short matter of time before the “down” relay went bad.

Mine was located in the battery compartment Will. Contacted Greg at C&C and he ordered new one today. Not sure when he'll get them. The flat plastic panel that the relay boxes are part of had a swollen blister about 1/4 " across and 1/8th " high. Shoulda took a picture. One piece of good news though, when I reversed to polarity, the gauge read correctly, so I reset it to the best position for running the big motor.

Sure hope this is not going to be another one of those years like last year.

Eddie......All great years start with some adversity. Your hard work is about to pay off in an impactful way. I just read it on a fortune cookie today ....I think I got your fortune as I'm retired from hard work....... Seriously unless you have a banana in your glove box your good to go as you passed the test and the boat karma is now all good so enjoy. I promise.
