striper rod for the bay

Hi looking for a 7 or longer light rod for my son to throw 1 oz kastmasters what do you recommend something light so he doesn't get his arms tired thanks george

12-15 lb mono/FC will require a larger size 4000 spinning reel, the rod should be balanced for a larger heavier reel imo. If you go with braid the 3000 bass reel size works along with bass spinning rods.

Right now My best suggestion would be 705 Champion or Sierra spinning. I am going to bring back the Champion 765 SF and it will be the perfect rod for this. I won't have this rod for several months though, THX!!!!

Apparently the 12-15 lb mono line is being over looked, you simply can’t cast mono line over .010D using standard bass size spinning reels. You need a 4000 size reel and that puts you into swimbait type rods or....inshore spinning M or MF spinning rods. 765 SF would solve this.
