Visually inspect all fishing gear

Calling all fishers, boaters and those who love watersports – keep an eye out for zebra and quagga mussels.
These invasive mussels cling to and form dense colonies over hard surfaces including, native mussel beds and can clog both engines, pipes and other infrastructure. A mature female can release up to 1 million eggs and produce free-swimming larvae, called veligers, that can disperse over long distances. Both mussel species can filter up to 80% of food sources, leaving less for native species.
How can you help: Visually inspect all fishing gear and remove any debris before departing the location, freeze gear for more than 24 hours or wash in over 140oF water. Utilize trailer/boat inspection and wash stations where available.
Report any positive detections (866)440-9530 (California) or (775)688-1314 (Nevada).
