FLW SERIES Who's in?

Post by Hollywood »

I know it is a bit early but who is planning on fishing on both the PRO/AAA side?

I am in on the pro side for the final two events and depending on my discharge date from the Navy and leave dates I will fly back and forth to make the first two events also depending on the two pro tours I am fishing here in Japan...

Let's support FLW so they stay and bring out the TOUR Events!

Not sure I can do both Stren and the Series. I'm working on a plan at this point, but we'll see.

All the dates look good except the one in September. I think an October/November time frame for the last two gives everyone a shot to fish the US Open and steers clear of fiscal year end for the federal gov't.

I may have to cut back on 1-2 Strens, but I will hit what I can.

I'll be fishing them next season, not sure about the Pro or Am side though. I'll have to fish a different region though - got orders to Atlanta, GA. It's good to see FLW making an effort to keep the west involved though. Good luck to all that are fishing these events.

Exciting will not describe it. It is creating a big buzz way over here in Japan. there are quite a few anglers here who are talking about making the trek back and forth and I am one of them for the first two events. Imagine the cost these guys go through to fly back and forth and have a boat and truck in the states just to fish the Series then come back to life in Japan the next day.

I'm definately in for all 4 events this year. I was kicking myself for not signing up for Lake Havasu where I was forced to hear the play by play's of Jr's win via the coconut network while at work.

I will probably fish the Stren again next year because of the costs' involved (unless I win the Championship on Wheeler) but I will be there to support the Series Guys at least at the Delta/Clearlake events. I think that FLW, Walmart and BP Gas have done an incredible thing here by supporting the fisherman and I will do what I can to help.
The Series paybacks are unbelievable (not including the possible bonuses) at over 137% ($823,000) on the Pro side and over 103% ($144,500) on the Am side. With the Pros' paying only $600,000 and the Ams' $140,000 this is truley going to be a banner year for us Left coast fisherman. I sincerely hope that they draw enough participants to keep the circuits here for a long time to come.

I just want to say thanks again to all of the Pros' and Ams' that help make the West one of the best places to fish.

Participation is the key. Many ways to show support.

Post by Gary Dobyns »

A 200 boat field paying 75 places is huge. We normally fish for a 1 in 5 payback. Now we fish for big bucks and get paid to 75th. That's a 1 in 2.6 pay out. FLW keeps stepping up to the plate for the fishermen. FLW OPENS are paying to 100th place this year. I would not be surprised to see them paying to 100th place next season in the Series. This is our chance at the big time. If it is at all possible, fish the tournaments. If you can't swing it, show up at the events to show support for the anglers as well as FLW and their sponsors. Participation is the key to sponsors and the Series. I look forward to seeing everyone at the events.

I will be fishing the Am side of the Stren and will be at the CL and Delta FLW events for support! First Time fishing at this level, but I am so excited I just can't express how I feel.

Thanks Jeff H.
I now know why it is called fishing and not catching!

I will be there for at least two as an Co-Angler. The Columbia and Clear Lake...maybe all of them, we'll see. I would love to fish for 20k from the back of the boat, that's amazing.

I'm in as an AM for both circuits. Not ready for the front of the boat yet, maybe when I can do more pre-fishing. This is going to be cool! The West will support you, just be patient as you have been for the last few years with Everstart/Stren. FLW seems to understand what it takes to build a strong business. It doesn't happen overnight and if you treat your customers with respect they will keep coming back and bring their friends with them. Thanks FLW for stepping up to the plate! The western anglers will support you.

Yes its hard to soar with eagles

Post by Jim Conlow Sr. »

When you hangout with turkeys.
But it is even harder to catch bass when you are when you waste an hour trying to catch a crappy old crappy. I suspect that the Japanese can teach you the difference between bass and crappy. I certainly was not able to.

This is truelly a dream come true for western anglers...... While I wish they would bring one down here to Powell, I guess us Utah guys will have to wait but the series is going to be sick...... Alot of guys in the intermountain area talking about it, and if any of them are worth their salt you should see alot of us supporting it.....

Jim, I guess I will never let that one down and everytime I see a dam crappie I think of that day.

We both couldn't tell what the hell it was. It was pretty deep if I remember. Remember those big ones down way deep we couldnt get to bite?

It sure was a big crappy ole crappie though! I remember the look on your face. What the hell is this guy fishing for? HA.....

I use that slogan with eagles and turkeys at work!

The Japanese don't do much sight fishing so I have taught many the aspect of seeing them deep in dirty and clear water.

:-) How you been old man?

Rasing funds is a must! I am now importing things like motorguides to Japan to sell to the fisherman here so I can make an extra buck. Too bad all my friends and fellow Evergreen staff are the first to order so I can't make a buck from them...GRRRRRR.......

The fund raising begins?

Any donations for a service member wishing to fish the FLW while still active and living in Japan??? HAR HAR
