Started off at the Basshole looking for my new License plate Basshole sweatshirt and trinkets. Rob searches the store frantically looking for the sweatshirt........nada. Calls his wife and were waiting on the stencil. OK? Needed to replace my medium action rod which broke a couple of weeks ago. After dropping 4 franklins and a grant, I've got a new I rod "AIR" and a bag full of trinkets I believe will help me catch more fish.
So off to Ladds with hopes high, but disappointment over no sweatshirt. I get there around 1 and there's "Pops" new boat glimmering in the sunshine like a Marines spit polish shoes. Very nice. Won't tell ya what because I don't want to steal Caleb's review. Well what do you know, here comes Josh with perfect timing.
Now according to Mr. Cooper, I should be throwing a horny toad on an underspin. (Try to find a 3/16th with a 5/0 hook)
Here's my pet peeve about etiquette when it come to fishermen in general. Normally there are 2 lines, that run around the island at the far western end of the parking lot. Recently there have been cars parked in the shade meaning the inside line has to swing wide once around the island recreating 2 lines. After the usual delay of off chatting rather than being ready to go, we wind up with a single file line. Oh and by the way instead of blocking the entrance why don't we pull down 3 rows towards the ramp and circle back up to the outside line? Anyway, I pull out and form a second line. What do you know, the lines start moving. Here's another idea, instead of forming two lines around the island have the inside lane cut around before the island that way 1 row goes around the outside and 2 row goes inside. But enough, (don't get me started about weigh in lines
OK bite slows down time to leave. Where to next? Eeny meeny miny moe lets find out which way to go.
Second spot produces a 21/2 almost immediately. Then the crap hits the wall. About every other cast Josh is making he's hooked up. Are things about to change? 4 fish for 7+ and it's 4:30. That's almost as much as last weeks 5, when Josh says fish and we slip a 4 into the net. WOW! Excitement prevails as we now have almost 12 lbs. But noy so fast. Being the only boat there was a good sign until, a dumb xxx wakeboat decides to come by us about 6 feet away. The jerk almost sinks us much less pushes us closer to the bank. We make another pass and I tell Josh we need to move. Now on spot 3 wind is blowing about 25, white caps and 1 footers bouncing us. Nada. I tell Josh move across the canal to the tules. We are slowly catching and culling ounces, when Josh hooks into what he thought was a small fish, turns out that small fish was another 4 lber. OK now we're really excited, because we're in check territory. It's 5:15 and we've got a good limit. OK we're now outa spots. Where to? I tell Josh lets go to where I caught that 4 last year on the whopper plopper. (The bigger fish seem to be holding on the shelf in shallow water. So off we go. We arrive and fish the leeward side, Josh throwing a buzzbait (and removing dinks
