Johnny C's and Where to stay for Pedro and Mcclure

Post by Fast Eddie »

So I'm looking through my SB stuff and I run across Johnny C's. Does he still make them? They were great for Motherlode lakes. If so where to I find them?
Going to spend some time up on the motherlode lakes this fall and wondering where to stay for Don Pedro, or McClure. Needs to be boat friendly. Used to stay in Chinese Camp (the tepee place on 49) but I don't think their available anymore. Its been like 25 years. Chicken Ranch is close, but don't know if its boat friendly. If worse come to worse, I'll stay in Angels Camp, but its a long drive, so looking for something closer.
Thanks In Advance

California resevoir lures website is still running I believe. I’ve ordered online in the past and have received them very quickly. The old Glory hole sports in Angels camp (not sure what it’s called now) had them as well the last time I stopped in. As far as lodging for Pedro or McClure, if you don’t have a trailer, I’ve had good luck at the cabins at McClure/South Barrett cove. Very boat friendly. Hope this helps.

Johnny C is in Arkansa and still making Jigs under California Resevoir Lures.

Lodging- You may find Chicken Ranch Boat friendly. Past Elite Pro Randy Pierson resps them and they may weill have safe overnight stay?

Another possibilty I have heard is the Fleming meadows marina and Houseboar Rentals. They have in the off season rented out Houseboats for fishermen to stay in for tournaments. Not sure but pretty tough to find a close drive for sure otherwise.

Good Luck

Best bet for overnight at McClure and Pedro is the camp grounds !! Next would be Merced. There's really nothing close for those two lakes. There maybe a Air B&B if you can get a few guys to split the cost.

Thanks for the mention Will.
The new Chicken Ranch Casino Resort has been open for about 1 month now. The hotel is open and fully functioning, the rooms are amazing! They are still are working on several other things, and expecting to have them completed by November.
Currently they have parking for large vehicles, boats, motorhomes etc., across the highway. They have a shuttle to and from that parking area. Right now they do not have any capability for charging batteries in that parking area. Once all the construction is completed and things are finished, we will see how they have everything set up for parking and charging.

It’s in the perfect location for fishing, Don Pedro Mocassin launch ramp is 10 minutes and Fleming meadows is about 25 minutes. New Melones is about 15 minutes to the Tuttletown ramp and about 30 minutes to the Glory hole launch ramp.
The casino currently has a Wahlburgers, 209 sports bar and a coffee/tee shop. They will have a fine dining restaurant and a coffee shop style restaurant as well. It’s pretty amazing!

Hope this helps.
