Wakey Wakey R2S and the WWN TOC....Lucky 13?

Post by Fast Eddie »

What a finale put on by Richard and Gerry. Big shout out to those guys. Let's put their love of the event into perspective. Do they get the full time to fish? No, not at all. They're the last to launch and leave (who checks their livewell  ), first to come in, so their fishing time is cut short. Yet they still manage to cash a few times each season. Does it put them behind the 8 ball? Why yes, but they're there each and every week. Kudos to them both.
So on my stop at the basshole, I run into "Ave Joe" the rod maker. Nice guy and it was great yaking about fishing. He'll be getting my old Quantum cranking rod soon to extend the handle. Bought a few Mag drafts for Pedro and McClure, and off to the taqueria and Ladd's. Upon arriving I went looking for Josh and he was way back in the line. Loaded up the Legend, and went to thank Richard and Gerry for their work. Saw "Pops" thinkin he was gonna have fresh tuna for everyone. Well it turns out the boat they were on broke down the same day as the Bearded one. That's when I found out there was a new wrinkle to this WWN. There would be a target weight and fish for additional dough as a thank you to all the guys. How cool. So off Josh and I go to our usual haunt. We can only muster up 4 puny fish. While fishing a chatterbait in French Camp Slough, I have this weed feeling and I'm trying to shake it off, when it breaks the surface and it was a good fish. The trailer tail was hooked over the point so no catchy for Eddie. Pull up next to Richard and Gerry to inquire about the target fish. Hmm, we dumpem, but are told to stick around as there is a big raffle after.
Well it looks like Lemaj and Kent (not Brown :) )could open they're own bank. Not only did they kick everyone's butt, they took the WWN pot and the TOC pot with 27.83 and an 8.10 kicker. JUan and VJ 2nd, Brayden and John and the list goes on of the WWN powerhouses. I'm not complaining mind you as we cashed 6 times this season. Congrats to all the winners. A funny thing that happened was I heard one of the guys fishing that he went pre fishing in our area Tuesday night and had 21+ lbs. Hmmm, maybe thats why........ Oh never mind.
As it turns out the raffle had some great prizes. Josh and I were the last pic and won A R2S Wake 210 in packaging that's more suitable for display. (see pic below)
So as WWN comes to a close, again a BIG THANK YOU to Richard and Gerry, and all the participants this year and all the new friends I made. As Roy and Dale would say "Happy Trails until we meet again".

PS For those of you who look forward to these posts, Josh and I are fishing Christian Bass. If you'd like me to post about those too, let me know.
For thise of you that fish CB, I have a question no one seems to be able to answer. I have Emailed CB with no response. So here goes. Rule 10 states you are allowed to prefish up until midnight the day "prior" to the tournament. So a Sat tournament means Friday is the day before so as midnight is 12+ seconds Fri morning, you can't prefish on Friday, or do yoiu think they mean Friday night?

I am pleased to report that the WWN event was exceptional, as always, allowing me to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones. The newest member of our fishing community has indeed made a significant impact. It was great to see her at the WWN fishing event, motivating young anglers by showing them that if she can accomplish it, they can too. I appreciated seeing her interact with kids and families she supports. I would like to express my gratitude to her for her contributions, particularly for helping my nephew's club secure boaters, a challenge many clubs faced before her involvement. I witnessed a WWN club owner attempt to take advantage of the situation, but she advocated for all clubs and kids. Her actions demonstrate that individuals can effect change. I commend her for prioritizing the greater good over personal gain. We appreciate her efforts and look forward to supporting her and others fallowing and supporting in the fishing industry. However, to club owner who tried to exploit the situation, please note that boaters are scarce. And we support people who in it for the kids .

Agreed that Richard and Gerry run a great event. I have also meet so many great people down there at Ladds. Hard to compete against most of them lol. I don’t like controversy but sure seems like someone ruffled some feathers out there based on a few posts. The good thing is that the good usually weeds out the bad and everyone I met out there made me want to return. Thanks to all those people I met and were supportive and fun to hang around with, see yall next season
