Could the America become California?

Post by WRB »

Most States have low cost to fish, low or no licenses fees for retired anglers, public launches are free and very good bass fishing. If California infects America with out taxes and general political theology where can we move?

My buddy lives in Idaho and he never pays anything to launch his boat. In fact most ramps have the old janky orange life vests available that one can borrow.

California Infects America? hahah..

as a Chinese person, I can still go to places in this country where people have called me Chink. hahah.. one restaurant they gave all my buds menus and didnt even give me one. its part of the reason I quit big game hunting. all the good animals are in the boondocks. ahahahahah..

there are different infections in this country..

I launch my kayak from a myriad of free boat launches. many of them on Clearlake. I fish maybe 60 times a year. if I amortize my license fee..it is very inexpensive fun.

all the States have some problems. easy to pick one and shine a light on it...but whatever.

If you are worried about name calling and slurs but prefer to pay high taxes on anything clearly common sense alludes you. I wish I was called racial slurs and paid lower taxes, less on goods, property, so on and so forth. I’ve been called slurs it doesn’t affect me and it doesn’t define me.

Like everything else currently going on in this country there’s always those that race bait and start up non sense that had nothing to do with the original topic.

The current infection in America and specifically blue states is the lack of common sense. We will never live in a utopia, people are inherently evil, get thick skin and move on with your life.

that's just one topic...to make a point.

I know you're probably a "single point" type of person, and I respect that. however, I am not sure that the added launch fees that may exist in some places to get an $80,000 boat into the water is the hill I am willing to die on.

if I know WRB, he made and lives a fine life in Simi Valley. (if he is the same WRB, he has taken some whopper bass!) I do fine here as well. most people that **** on CA, never even visited this place. whatever. I'm going fishing, so I gotta prep.

Exactly!
In my now 78 years in Ca I've lived through lots of bad times, like segregation, MaCarthyism, and the Vietnam War. Anti-Semitism, anti-Latino, anti-Asian, and just about every other kind of hatred and bigotry that small-minded, scared people have come up with.
But those people are a small minority. Most of the people I've met here are decent folks. and I suspect it's the same all over our country.
We live in the greatest country in the world, but it costs to live here, no matter where you live. We all have to pay for the things we get, like roads, cops, and all the other services most of us take for granted. There is no free lunch.
So, just remember the hitchhikers moto from the '60s:

"Gas, grass, or ***. No one rides for free."

Born and raised in SoCal. Worked summers at Big Bear Lake at Holloway’s and didn’t know my best friend was black until 10 years later. Yes we had bad people mostly the bikers, and East LA.
I didn’t know about prejudice until the Watts riots!
My career in aerospace allowed traveling all over this country, UK and Western Europe. Our south in the 60’s was a real eye opener for a naive SoCal boy. Religious bigotry was also surprising between various religions, another form of hatred I was sheltered from.
I feel blessed living in SoCal as a youngster, I am now 81.
Today California’s politics are boarder line socialism and I am a registered Democrat but identify as a Independent today leaning right.
Yes I live in Similar Valley in Wood Ranch overlooking the golf course and Reagan library, no plans to move. I feel the country slipping away becoming California politically.
Was blessed to fish our local and San Diego lakes in there prime catching a ot of DD bass including 5 between 17 to 19 lbs on jigs. Those days are a memory but still hoping for that 20!

This is the point the elites miss. Wait maybe they get it and use it to further divide. Communism at its finest.

I laugh when people use socialism and communism to prove a point. 90% of Americans have zero clue about socialism and communism. We get socialism confused with big government and government control. California is not a socialist state. we have no socialist states. We have states with big government. States that run everything and states that pay for everything with our taxes. That is not socialism.
If you want to see real life socialism, read up on the way the Green Bay Packer owns and runs the team. that is socialism. the people own the team, product and get the profits. where is that happening in the state?
Now, as for our great state, it's still great. Our fees are high but we have year round fishing with no snow or ice. We are spoiled here. We have work and we have a huge economy.
