The 2006 El Cajon Ford San Diego Team Open 8/7 & 8/8

Post by JJCJR »

In 1999 Mr. Paul Leader from El Cajon Ford wanted to come up with an Open Team Tournament format that would be fun, challenging and profitable for the teams that ventured down to San Diego to fish his event.

Since 1999 the second Monday and Tuesday of August has been set aside here in San Diego for The El Cajon Ford Team Open. Here's how the teams have faired since 1999. Just maybe you know some of these champions.

1999 Jon Strelic/Rusty Salewski $5,000
2000 Allen Tatem/Keith Gunsauls $5,000
2001 David and Mike Parks $5,500
2002 Todd Holverson/Brett Hite $5,000
2003 Clayton Meyers/Steve Bolivar $7,500
2004 Dustin Baker/Buck Buckhanan $6,500
2005 Jon Strelic/Rusty Salewski $9,600

Since 1999, the El Cajon Ford San Diego Team Open has paid out to fishermen in cash, $161,630. This figure does not include the value of trophies, prizes, gifts or the great Team BBQ that goes on before the event.

Want to be part of a fun and exciting this team event offers, on two of the most productive lakes in Southern California, San Vicente and El Capitan? Entries for the 2006 edition of the El Cajon Ford San Diego Team Open are now being accepted. The discount entry fee (received before August 1st) is $400. After August 1st the entry fee goes up to $450.00

You can find entry forms at most of the local tackle dealers in San Diego, at Anglers Marine or by going on www.elcajonford.com or www.anglersarsenal.com. A copy of the entry form can be faxed to you by calling 619 466 8355.

Time is running short. Come on down south where the fishing is great and the payback is even better.

Off-limits:

San Vicente you can fish till the end of the day on 8/4
El Capitan until 12 midnight on 8/5.

No fishing on either lake the Sunday before the event.
The El Cajon Ford night tournament has been moved to
Lake Otay. Tw 23 pound limits for three fish in two tournaments made that decision a lot easier.

Thanks Pete......let's see what we can do, I'm really pumped to be fishing with the man, 2 days ought to be fun! Anybody else on this board fishing it? I really enjoy a challenge and this one will be a good one, I love the S.D. lakes but it's locals are tough!....let us at 'em! Strelic / Salewski look like the only repeat winners.....therefore, that's who were gunnin for! EEEeHaaa!!

Jon and Rusty did not win in 1999. Art Bailey and Chris Stinnett did. So far no one has won twice. Jon and Rusty were the first and only to dominate with two 1sts when they won in 2005.
