Decontamination stations

Post by JVGondal »

Some states have a pool of treated water that you back your boat and trailer into just like the boat ramp
Start outboard and run well pumps for a few minutes and you are done
I wonder if Ca is going to try this. Appears fast and easy

Sounds like a great idea, I wonder if Greasy would support that in Ca?

that looks really slick . Do you have to pay an additional launch fee for that ramp ?

Annual pass for any public ramps on Lake Shasta is $185. Betting ramp with decon station would double.

Whether they charge extra or not, it is a good idea. You still get to fish.
Too bad Stockton can't do this for ocean-going ships.

If they do build them on the lakes up north you would pay to go fishing. If it happens here in the central valley I would do the same. Hopefully if it happens they make it a year around pass for the boats even if they charge $200.00 year it would be worth it.

Doesn't the main influx of infestation stem from the Delta, why not have a Decontamination Set up at the Delta ramps that all boats must go thru upon leaving ?? Then there would /should be no need for all the lakes to be monitored !

You obviously do not understand the number of ramps both public and private not to mention the size of the Delta

I would expect nothing less from my communist left friends
Ca does not like our gas lawn mowers ,weed eaters, generators , ohv, automobiles, natural gas furnace , fireplace or firearms
Do you really think that they want our outboard engines on the water? They certainly do not care

The number of boats would create wait times on the delta ramps to be so long people would be held up involuntarily for hours on end.
Or stream line the procedure from 45 minutes to 5

Would decontamination stations located at various locations like gas stations or car washes be a more realistic idea?
Decontaminate your boat at a location near you slap on a band that is common to Ca waters

Irony of course is to think these Golden Mussles just showed up a month before they were discovered in Stockton. They've, in all likelihood, been around for several years so all this 'watch out now!' panic is useless... a 1000 boats from the Delta have already been in all the lakes that are now restricted.

Common sense ain't that common.

This is 100% correct! the same ships have been making regular runs to the port of Stockton! the Golden Mussels could have possibly been there for decades? and now a giant knee jerk reaction! this is turning into just another huge money grab just like the Boaters Safety Card!

Port of stockton been open since 1932 and ships of all types have been coming in there since now all of a sudden these golden mussels just come from no where. Delta is ground zero it wont ever shut down no matter what happens at the local lakes.
