New Melones Trip 1/7/25

New Melones is open for fishing 8am to 4pm "ONLY IF YOUR BOAT WAS RED TAGGED AND YOUR BOAT WAS QUARANTINED 30 DAYS AGO". I drove up from San Jose to get a red tag on my boat so I can start fishing 2/7/25 to get ready for tournament in March. TUTTLETOWN LAUNCH IS CLOSED TFN. Glory Hole is the only launch open, Rangers are parked at ramp checking you in and out. Please don't take your frustrations on Rangers, they want things to open up but are just doing what they are told to do. Once you're allowed to fish make sure you get of water before 4pm to get a GREEN TAG so you can come back to fish New Melones. "IF YOU BREAK THAT GREEN TAG BY LAUNCHING SOMEWHERE ELSE YOU HAVE TO START THE 30 DAY PROCESS ALL OVER AGAIN".

Just fishing for info
Is there a local agency (Bay Area) that can inspect and tag a boat?
If my boat has been sitting since sept I have to tow it to the lake to have someone put a tag on it?
Is the green tag only good for the one lake?
If the boat is deemed clean at Melones and tagged can I show up to Berry if the tag is not broken?

jeremy z, the answer is NO to all those ?'s. Although Melones and Berryessa are sister bodies of water run by The Bureau of Reclamation, Solano County owns the "water rights " from Berryessa. Solano County has set up their own pre inspection (hot pressure wash) for now.

When the deal was made to build the dam at new Melones it was to have FREE boating and recreation

And it did for many years.
Now it’s anything but free
The solution is not bands or scanning numbers
