At BAM, we strive to keep our rules consistent throughout the season. However, if a rule is unclear, we will amend it to ensure fairness and equity for all anglers.
Previously, the BAM Pro-Am rules did not clearly define how to handle ties in a regular-season event. This issue came to light during the Shasta Pro-Am, where a tie occurred for the final payout position. Without a defined rule, we opted to split the payout between the two anglers.
Moving forward, we now have a clear process for handling ties in both placement and big fish categories, ensuring transparency and consistency in all BAM events.
NEW RULE TEXT:
1. TIES:
Tiebreaker Rules: In the event of a tie tiebreaker will be determined as follows:
1. Largest single day’s weight
2. If the tie remains, largest number of legal fish weighed during competition
3. If the tie is still not broken, largest number of legal live fish weighed during competition
4. If the tie persists, the next tiebreaker will be the Angler of the Year (AOY) standings prior to the event.
If the tie remains unresolved after applying the above criteria, it will be considered a tie, and monetary prizes for each contestant will be awarded in equal amounts.
Big Fish Tie
If two contestants are tied with the same big fish weight, BAMTT will combine the payouts for the tied positions and divide them equally among the contestants.
Example:
• If 3rd place is set to receive $500 and 4th place $700, the combined total ($500 + $700 = $1,200) will be split evenly.
• Each angler would receive $600.
Championship Pro Division
If there is a tie for first place, the Tournament Director will conduct a sudden death fish-off. The specific parameters will be determined at the director’s discretion. All BAMTT rules will apply during the fish-off.
Championship Co-Angler Division
Ties will be resolved using the same criteria as above
