Invasive species that needs to be eradicated. How many years will it take them to completely destroy the delta bass population? From what I've witnessed out there, not long. I see them all over, from as far north as hog slough all the way south to sugar cut.

This info from state of Oregon about Columbia and Willamette rivers concerning Sealions eating endangered salmon and steelhead. Need pictures of them eating salmon.

I started fishing the Delta with my dad in the 60s. Always been Sea Lions out there. They come up the river more in spring. Eat the belly’s only whether it’s a Bass , Catfish or A Salmon.

I’ve seen them eat two or three times and every time was about a five pound carp. They throw it around and play with it for a few minutes before eating them.

@Dave Brabec
Have you always seen the bass population fluctuate with the sea lions presence over the decades?

Only been on the Delta once in last 20 years. So really can’t say. I will say Franks Tract was pretty incredible fishing 20 years ago.

One thing is for certain the sea loins don't need FFS the catch and eat the bass. :lol:

Fact or Fiction?
I'd say his analysis is spot on. I've been fishing the delta 25 years and yes the quality fluctuates over the years, but I don't see a rebound from this scenario.

Back in the 70s a 5 pounder was a giant fish in the delta
The weeds that came from an aquarium tank along with planting Florida strain created the great fishing
The weeds are gone. Remember franks Tracy Just full of weeds?

The sea lions always been around but there certainly is more now
Bring the weeds back and I think the bass will return
The weeds gave them a place to escape predators plus it was great cover for bait and the bass alike

Stripes have plenty of shad to eat.
