Hutch is fishing DVL night tournament 0n the 12th. Hutch says NO ONE CAN BEAT HIM! Hutch is putting $50.00 up, So I am making a special $10.00 option. The first team that beats Hutch and his team member will win the option. This will probaly pay back somewhere around sixty place.

I didn't think there were many people who didn't get into all the options. I guess that is there option but it is a stupid choice.

I just got to work today, check my e-mails, and log on to good ol' Western Bass to see what's going on in the world and what do I see? 60th Place? We're on Nothing?

If I wanted to feel this kind of love, I'd just stay at home with the wife and kids!

Alright you all, I may not get out on the water as much with a rod in hand, but its just like riding a bike (I'm not very good at that either). I've no illusions that I will likely be out of the money at this rodeo, but 60th place? Ouch! I think I can finish higher than that fishing form shore....

I am going to sweeten the pot. Forget the $50. I will give the team that wins the "Beat Hutch" award 1 Original Castaic bait set, new in the box. This includes a Castaic Wooden Trout, Castaic Largemouth Bass, and Castaic Smallmouth Bass. Last time I looked, these were worth a few dollars more than 50 bucks! Whatever team wins, you'll just have to flip a coin amongst yourselves to see who gets the baits.

That being said, let the abuse begin. I'll see you all on August 12th.

I am sure I have saved Thousands of dollars by not getting into all the options all the time. Of all the times I have finished in the money I have only not collected possible option money once. When I get enough experience to be truly competitive I will get in the options. Until then, the fewer options I spend money on the more tournaments I can fish, the better equipment I can afford and the more experience I can gain. It's not always about the money for all of us. For me it's about the experience and learning. I hope to learn enough so that when my son or daughter decide to get into the tournament bandwagon we can truly be competitive and I will have enough experience to teach them well. Until then, just call me Team Frugal.
