Decontamination locations?

Post by Freedomfmlyfish »

Good morning everyone,
I am just looking to gather more info regarding locations in Norcal near or in Elk Grove or Sacramento county that are doing decontaminations and the cost on average for a 19ft bass boat. Primary lakes for us being Camanche, New Hogan, Pardee, and Folsom. Also any info on these lakes would be greatly appreciated. I've been having trouble getting a hold of anyone and finding much info regarding all this. I just want to make sure our family trips on the water are not interrupted or halted any more than they already are with any surprises. Any info regarding this and the process would be greatly appreciated, thanks. I have seen some post about it but just want to hear more from experiences first hand. Also is there any inspections being done at any launches in the delta? Id assume not being that's where they were supposedly found..

Camanche and pardee announced there will not be a boating season in 2025. They continue to be closed
Lake Tulloch Is also closed for 2025
These lakes may never open again

Mean while people with a radio podcast voice on Saturday mornings say nothing except to wait as it works out rather than attempting some type of action.
They also say not to share an opinion online

Ok it’s their industry that is suffering
Therefore I speak only the facts as I know them
If I miss speak please correct me

Folsom is currently closed April15 -may 15 to all outside boating. They are not accepting decontamination and do not have a decontamination station. You can travel to Folsom and get a trailer to boat band and wait 30 days to return to launch. However your boat can not enter any other waters without starting the 30 decontamination over again

Folsom has implemented the same rules as lake new Melones

Your boat must sit dry on your trailer for 30 days and then only then will you be allowed to launch.
Upon departure if you get back to the ramp before the rangers go home you will get another band
It’s only good for that lake however
No lakes are sharing bands that I know of
Your boat would be only allowed at one lake
The rangers are at new Melones to inspect the band on your boat and rebrand it as you leave during the hours of 8am-4PM. Who wants to fish those hours with summer heat around the corner ?

I believe their thinking is that they do not trust the other lakes are free of mussels even if they implemented the same restrictions

The only lakes with a functioning decontamination station is berryesa
But it’s only good for berry
You can not get decontaminate at berry and then go to Folsom or melons and so on
Tahoe has a decontamination station as well.
I’m not sure about new hogan but I Believe it’s open to boats without restrictions

Please correct me if I’m miss informed
Thank you

Agreed. This is baffling. Not saying anything is facilitating these water agencies to carry on with theirbusiness as usual abuse of power. EBMUD'S decision to prohibit boating was decided at a staff level without any Board consideration, discussion or deliberation. What is the point of publicly elected officials? Now i know why so many people dont vote.
Relying on a state declaration of invasive species emergency does not give staff a free pass to do whatever they want "out of an abundance of caution".

Maybe the radio shows have sponsors at risk or some other threat we don't know about.

Maybe if the news and others reported the fact that the state of California has caused the golden mussel crap in the first place!!!!
But hey why not put restrictions in place on private boaters. Don’t want to over regulate vessels coming from countries know for the infestation in the first place. This state is clearly run by the most incompetent people!

What is this type bullet head good for? Weeds I figure
The hook is 3/0. The point is far up the weed guard where it’s stiffer. I trim it when I fish usually
Seems like it might be very snag proof

I have not fished that type head in many years

Thanks

Poured these yesterday. Powder coat baked in oven

You are right about the new square cut rubber. It’s not the same. It’s not the old school like they advertise
I’m going back to frog hair

Probably should start a new thread if this keeps going
Looks like a high jack 😂

The flipping jig is a bullet type jig head trim the weed guard at the same angle as the top of the hook just above at and angle.
The brush guard jig heads you can trim the guard the same way leave enough guard to cover the hook.
