Dedicated lithium battery for electronics

Post by tpaes »

Making the switch to lithium, putting in a 36V for the trolling motor and a 12V dedicated to electronics only. Leaving the AGM cranking battery in place to run the boat.

My question is about group size for the electronics battery. I can purchase either 12V 100 AH Group 24 or a 12V 100 AH Group 27 or a 12V 100 AH Group 31. Other than size is there any reason to select a larger battery?

I can fit any of the 3, however if I put a Group 24 I would have a little extra storage room.

Hey Tim. Hope all is well. I use an Ionic 50ah dedicated for mt Livescope only. I put the black box and the battery in my rod locker and it works great. Plenty of power. Good luck. Robert

Thanks Robert, it seems simple on the surface, amps are amps and the size shouldn't matter, but just trying to make sure I'm not missing anything.

I think you already got good answers on the other page. I will add that some companies like LiTime actually offer a 100amp/hr mini which is also an option. The only down side is the availability of trays/mounting hardware.
