To da dump, to da dump to da dump dump dump, Just not my night Pre Season WWN#2

Breaking my habit of visiting the Bass Hole, I proceeded to Ladds the old way with a stop at Wendy's in Tracy for Lunch. (still hooked on the spicy chicken) and some potato with my ketchup (or catsup for you old school guys  ). Arriving about 12:30 there was quite a line. Wheelin the Roush around to my favorite parking spot, I began the to look for Josh. Sure enough Josh was up near the corner, so I began the arduous task of transferring gear. 4 trips to get everything loaded.(of course those trips take me right by Phil, and Christian. Phil laughs and tells me I should just drive over and unload, but in the back of this product who survived the 60s, I tell myself this is the exercise I need. After loading the Legend, and visiting with several of the contestants, Josh and I discuss our plans. Josh says he was out yesterday and found some fish in an area we fished in the past, so because of the suckey tide, we scrap Amundsen and go there first. Of course we would be like boat 5 or 6, but the guy in front of us screws up the line and now we have 3 lines trying to get around the small Island. (BTW there is a big pile of cat liter (Mulch) in the parking lot, for what I don't know, but the feral cats will be thrilled :D . Any we launch and pass one of those giant cargo ships sailing with the tide?????/ I think not as its about to bottom out. Further up the river we find multiple sheriffs boats practicing pulling boaters over. They were also on jet skis. Noe if I remember my "recent" boating course, when you see those Blue and Red lights you're to slow to 5 mph, which were did even though we were over a hundred yards away, but the guy in the Ranger in front of us did not. Josh and I were waiting for them to get him, but they ignored him altogether.
1st Spot
We eased into the pond and could see spooky fish everywhere. I assumed they were heavily pressured. Withing minutes Josh had our first keeper on this japanese spinnerbait he's been tossing. Slow and steady was the bite. Just outside the pond was a grass bed in the middle of the river. I told Josh, lets go fish there. In my head I'm thinking that's the first place the fish are going to go after the spawn. So around the weedbed we go Josh punching and I chatterbaiting. Opps, missed him, then a few minutes later I boat a2 1/2 and before long we have a limit. I tell Josh we should head east, as the fish seem to bite better on the incoming tide, so off we go to spot number 2.

2nd spot
We were surprised to see the area being cleaned up, which of course messes up our landmarks. Josh begins with a spinnerbait and surprisingly the water is pretty high, rounding a corner I see froggy water and start throwing a frog while Josh punches. Suddenly a 3lbr jumps over the top of my frog and splashes down. Being feeble sighted I swing and watch my frog turn into a SR 71 zooming past me. Crap! Oh well. Minutes later Josh gets several no helpers. As we cruise up the bank (as opposed to down?) Josh starts getting them to eat his frog. The piece de resistance Josh bangs a 4+ on the frog. We're now at 12+. I make a cast to the outside weedling with the chatterbait and now I'm into a good 2 1/2 which I proceed to dump. Now on a point I throw the chatterbait between two tule clumps, and I'm hung up until it starts pulling back. I set and now I've got one a little over 3 which I swing over the gunnel and immediately unhooks it self, bounces on the deck and lands between the gunnel and console. It looks to me like its sunbathing, except its cloudy..but I try (like a D/A) to prevent another flop by placing the rod tip on it. Of course it immediately flops out of the boat and happily zooms away. Thats 2 dumped. As we are leaving the area but still fishing another one about 3 grabs my frog with less than 6'ft of line. I watch as in slo motions as she swims out from the weed, sucks down my frog and heads off. I ask Josh for the net when she looks at me and twomp   spits the frog right back at me. Dump #3. Moving down the bank further, still tossing frogs I make a cast to the bank and tell Josh we should go back to spot #1. He agrees, but while I'm looking at him I feel the distinctive pull of a big fish that sucked my Frog down when I wasn't looking and set. There goes the SR 71 again.

Last stop
No dice. we dump our 13lbs and head for the barn. 53 Boats 2 weeks in a row. 8 place payback. Congrats to Mike and Fruiz on the win 22.88 (no big fish) Took 14.75 to get paid. BF 8.16 2nd BF 6.95

PS Talking to Richard, a guy bought a brand new boat, had never been in the water, took the paperwork to New Melones and was told they would tag and quarantine the boat for 30 days before allowing it on the water. This madness has to stopo.
