WWN and a tribute to a old friend

Post by stickbait »

Enjoyable evening last night with a old friend, yep older than me, Danny Peluso.
My normal, and he's not that normal (haha) team partner Charlie King was tired from slinging them fish catching Fish Lab poppin frogs for 5 days last week and needed a rest, so I jumped on board with Danny and we hit the WWN event.
We wandered around in the world of moss out there in the delta catching a med size limit and as always needed a kicker as always out there for a check.

What made my evening complete was as we were in the area of "Mikes spot", (back story here}. After the loss of my team partner of many years, Mike Coelho I made a sign shortly after his passing 6 years ago now and nailed it to a post as this was Mike's favorite spot and I wanted the world to know this is his spot. .
He won a tournament here and we had also caught some nice fish in the area together in the past years.
So I showed Danny Mikes spot and we fished it, of course !!!
I grabbed my flippin stick with Mikes favorite color of baby brush hog, I have caught so many fish on this thing, just love it, anyway as I gently flipped that brush hog next to Mikes post the line heads for deep water so I lean into it hard.. a nice 2 .5 lber, our best fish of the night comes flying out of the water going crazy, I know Mike told that fish to work me over... lol ... Danny yells THATS A KEEPER as I finally get control of the fish and boat flip it in the boat !
Made me smile and still smiling thinking about that fish!!
So if your in the area, stop by and say hi to Mike he just might put a fish on your line and if you want you can always hang a old lure on the board!!
Thanks Danny, Charlie King Fishing and of course Mike !!
@ Anna Coelho
Edit......I forgot to mention.....huge shout out to buddy Aaron Hamilton for helping place the sign on that pole, so thankful to him for this !!!! Thanks buddy

Mike gave me a couple crank baits at Clear Lake during the Bobs Marine tournament and told me to give them a go so I tied one on the second morning and started running the rocky banks and caught em pretty good.
When I heard Mike passed I retired that one Cherry red Crankbait to my garage wall so I could see his name Coelho that he signed on each lure. RIP Mike and an awesome tribute to him Stickbait as he was what bass fishing is all about!

A couple years ago Danny Peluso towed my boat in when it broke down. Danny wouldn’t take a dime for his trouble and told me to tow someone else in to repay it. Solid dude he saved our a$$es that day
