Clear Lake Bound!

Post by Brian D. »

Headed up to the bass factory in 5 days for a fun relaxing trip and celebrate my early retirement. Been 7 years since I've been up there since moving to San Diego. What's the latest bite on the lake? How's the green goo/ algae? Just lookin to get dialed in to the summer bite. Yeah... frogs and jaaa jaaa - jigs.

Bite is wide open! Last week I fished from the county park to the state park flipping red beavers for three hours and caught 20+ keepers for 20+ lbs!8-11! Do what you like, but I like to flip! Be careful of the wind!

Was just up there for 3 days this weekend. Use whatever technique you like. Drop shot and cranking, both shallow and deep, was the ticket for better fish. Better fish seemed to be offshore on rock cover but we caught good quality fish shallow, flipping, frogs, buzz baits, spooks. Just do what you like to do and cover water.

Thanks! Thanks for the reminder of bringing my deep crank rod setup.

What age is your early retirement? I’m considering early retirement myself. Less cash and all the time in the world. I value time
You can spend all your time making money or spend all your time spending it

Congratulations on the early retirement. I know we’ve talked about Howard Stern on here. I always listen to the old shows when I go out fishing by myself, and it’s just the best. If you know how to torrent you can find them all sorted by year online (or sometimes on a a google drive, internet archive also has a few full years). If you want it simplified and don’t mind paying, I also bought all the old show MP3’s from this link (which does work):

https://www.cyberwonka.com/product/show ... Qa#reviews

A few years back I started listening “in” January 2000 and it’s just the best re-living all those crazy antics. It’s even funnier in light of the “comedy” we are all conditioned to these days. Much better than anything we call “content”. What can never be replicated is the random angry callers just berating anybody in the studio. Nobody is safe…. It really compliments those times you can get out on the boat and you’re all alone. Anyways, that’s how I picture my retirement listening to those old *** shows and cracking up.
