Wait! What am I going to do on Wednesdays? WWN TOC.. FIRE.

Post by Fast Eddie »

It's finally here......WWN TOC 33 boats in TOC and $3300 extra in the pot. Nothing to shake a stick at.
Excitement availed at the POW Wow, as the group discussed the possibilities. With an early launch time (1330) I arrived at 09:45 only to find I'm boat 7  . These guys camp out or what? Before you know it, we'll have grilled breakfasts then lunch at the Pow Wow. Todays menu.........bring your own and cook what you want. Now being fishermen, we strive to have our4 tackle ready and in perfect condition, but when it comes to lunch.....that's a different story. One gentleman brought a salad........no fork. Luckily I had a few Wendy's forks in the Roush and saved the day. So, at the Pow Wow I made the mistake of inquiring to my Christian Bass partner about a butt seat for him and if it would fit my boat............only it came out as " How big is you butt hole pole because I'm wondering if it'll fit?"      What a stupid way to ask a simple question. My ribs still hurt from laughing so much. I understood what I was asking however everyone else didn't. Anyhow digs persisted during the rest of the Pow Wow. (as they should. (check bearded bassin video for participants)
Stickbait shows up, we load the boat and launch. Short drive to our first spot. The plopper bite was on. We had a limit in about 30 minutes. Yeah it's 10 lbs but its a limit. That gives us about 5 1/2 hours to upgrade. Fishing a small weedy flat Strick bait says " Uh Oh1 somebodys got a big fire going on. I turn to see billowing black smoke rising up in the air like an atomic explosion. It appeared as though one of the river establishments were on fire.(see photo below) However it was just a boat. I remember seeing it look abandoned during the Mike Vaughn classic, It was beached on the rocky bank. Stolen? Insurance? who knows, but now its a melted mess.
So long drive to next spot. Nothing but small fish. Under 2 lbs. We saw Richard and Gerry,(finished in the money) Christian and his partner (finished in the money) Angelo and his partner (finished first). So its not to say we weren't in productive areas, we just didn't figure out what the bigger girls wanted. Heck, even the raffle didn't go our way. Caleb picked numbers which happened to coincide with everyone in the Pow Wow except me and Stickbait. Oh well, Stick is off chasing Albacore and I'm sanding decks. Gotta love honey dos .
