Salmon
Re: Salmon
Flossing? Why stop there? Maybe a little night time gill netting....
Re: Salmon
"Flossing" - I struggle with the bait setup, how big of a treble hook do you use? They seem to be a bit shy of the 4/0 2oz sinker setup...

Re: Salmon
Floss is snagging salmon in the mouth, not sure any snag right now is legal in California.

Many people floss. It is NOT legal. The fish must voluntarily take the hook
Flossing is just how it sounds. The poacher cast across the river. The line drifts down into a school of salmon. The salmon are facing into the current opening and closing their mouths
The line swings into the salmons mouth involuntarily often several feet up the line from the hook
The line is flossed through the mouth and hook sticks the fish outside the jaw
All I can say is you better be sure the hook is hooked from inside the mouth out when the warden is watching
It’s not a sporting way to fish and how this question is asked on a bass fishing forum is beyond belief
If I were you I would not floss salmon
You are better off casting a large blue fox spinner and letting the salmon attack it

Re: Salmon
We have one hell of a fish market here in central ca where I live.
It's real easy to go get fresh salmon from them every day.

Yes. I like the farm raised steelhead
Prefer fresh caught halibut but the farm raised steelhead is a good second choice

Re: Salmon
I don't think flossing is illegal. Everybody was doing it below Nimbus dam years back. They do it in Alaska. Not much different than yanking a bass off their bed.
Re: Salmon
I believe it is legal as long as the hook is inside mouth
