Best Super Glue for Braid to Fluoro/Mono connection?
Best Super Glue for Braid to Fluoro/Mono connection?
What super glue do you guys recommend for the best braid to fluoro/mono knot connection? For regular line and ultralight lines?
Re: Best Super Glue for Braid to Fluoro/Mono connection?
I've never used superglue on my knots or connection points. I would think the glue would chemically melt or degrade the fluro carbon. Learning how to tie proper knots and connections is my advice.

Is braid to Fluoro even worth it? Can fish even see the line? I've done tests and I don't think they can or don't really care.
Now it might come into play with the action of the lure if you're throwing heavier line. If so you have 30# braid to 6# fluoro. You're still at the breaking point of the fluoro. None of it is worth it to me.
Go fishing, figure out the good spots and when/where they feed.
All this very specific line size and rod action is nonsense. There are only 3 rod actions you need to focus on and a few line sizes. To me braid is only for frogs and punchin. 8-10 lb test for spinning rods and 15-20 lb line for everything else.
You're going to go crazy and broke overthinking this game called bass fishing.
I think all super glue is basically the same just under a different label. I don't think adding super glue has ever hurt me nor has it ever helped with the exception of keeping a soft plastic lure on the hook.

Re: Best Super Glue for Braid to Fluoro/Mono connection?
Whoopbass brings a lot of good points. I'm a huge fan of straight mono, Straight Flouro, or straight braid depending on the application. Right now, I have quite a few rods that are set up braid to flouro leader. The only reason for that is, with everything else I've got going on, I don't get out like I used to and when I do get the opportunity to go, I don't want to spend a hundred bucks spooling line that's going to get one, maybe a couple days use and then possibly sit for who knows how long. Being the freak that I am about knots etc. I spent a lot of time looking at and practicing different knots until I found what I liked the best. So far, the FG knot has been what I've settled on. It is a little more involved of a tie. The tool that Diaichi makes is definitely a "thing". I really do not think a well tied leader knot needs any type of glue whatsoever. Just my opinion on the matter. Take it for what you will.
What I will say is that when I get back to a point that I can fish on the regular, the braid is coming off every spinning rod, jig rod (that isn't a flippin' stick) and reaction bait rod (that isn't a topwater or frog) that I own getting spooled with, What to me, is the appropriate line for the lure.
I know a lot of people who look at it from a cost standpoint as far as how long a spool of braid lasts, which is understandable, I get that aspect of it. It's why I've set a bunch of rods up that way But is it really worth the extra hassle with having to retie leaders on the water in crappy conditions, wind knots etc.? For me? I can't say that it is.

I will also vote for less connection knots if possible, one less thing to fail….. I do it on my spinning rods because I like the hiviz braid for line watching and it behaves (line twist) better than straight flouro. Also use braid to a HEAVY mono leader on my top waters to prevent fouling on the treble hooks. Other than that it’s straight Flouro or Braid.
Ps…. If I have good line on a reel wether braid or flouro and I need to switch, I use a wooden dowel chucked in my cordless drill and spool it off the reel….. I put a piece of masking tape over it and write the brand, pound test, and what size reel it came off of.

UV Knot Sense by Loon is flexible and can be smoothed to cover anything sticking out.
With that said 1 knot is 100% stronger than 2!

Don’t use glue. I used to use but quit after found out it made the line brittle and I lost a spy bait

That is you don’t use ridgid super glue use flexible UV Sense glue.

Fluorocarbon does matter for this particular purpose. In this case it is not for bass. Steelhead/salmon and ultralight fishing for trout. In the particular areas where I am fishing, the fish can be extremely line shy.
Re: Best Super Glue for Braid to Fluoro/Mono connection?
I use green maxima for steelhead and with great success for many years. It becomes damn near invisible in the clearest rivers and streams.
I think about braid but where I fish the river is full of rocks. I think that would not be a good deal for braid
A trout can absolutely inspect tiny details of a fly with its big pupils. I would imagine a basses eyes work the same. Usually a bass is biting out of a reaction. Can’t help but to strike in most instances

Who in the hell would use glue on any knots you tie
I've been tying jigs for 48 years now and have never use glue including Bucktail jigs never had any jigs fail. If you tie the correct between braid/floral or mono leader it should never come apart.
