Greetings ABA Championship Qualifier,
As you are aware, the Federal Government "Shut-Down" has been dragging on for weeks. We submitted and paid for the event permits many months ago for the South Championship at Lakes Mead and Mohave event. This payment is made to the NPS (National Parks Service). The NPS sends the "signed final permits" to the organization about one or two weeks prior to each event. Even though we submitted and paid for the permits months ago, we did not receive the final signed permits prior to the Government Shutdown. Without final signed permits, it is not legal for us to hold an event on Federal waters.
We waited to make this decision, as we kept up with the news on a possible end to the Shutdown. We now have to take action to be fair for all competitors to make appropriate plans.
Trying to reschedule to an "Open" date in the Spring of 2026 would be almost impossible. We do not want to create conflicts.
Our best alternative is to keep the dates and move the venue. We are officially changing the location of the 2-Day portion of the event to Lake Havasu, NO DATE CHANGE, November 14th and 15th.
BASS CAT SHOOT-OUT November 16th: We will continue to keep the Lake Mohave Off-Limits in place starting November 3rd. The decision on the Shoot-Out will be made prior to the event. If the shutdown ends, and we receive a permit for Mohave, we will keep the Bass Cat Shoot-Out at Mohave. If not, all three days will be held at Lake Havasu.
Please make necessary changes to your plans.
We are disappointed that we are all impacted by this congressional issue. We were very excited about the Mead/Mohave format. We know that the American Bass/Bass Cat Championship will still be a great event and we look forward to seeing you at Lake Havasu. We will edit the itinerary on the event page to reflect these changes.
