Next up was trying to find a map to figure the time to get to the new spot. Good luck. We finally reached someone at the Marina who was very patient and explained how to get there. She said it would take about 30-45 minutes. She forgot to say except in tule fog, and if you miss the turn and blah blah blah.
Anyway I arrive on Wednesday and inquire about the ramp closures to the Rangers. They know nothing about any ramp closures. I show them the FB post the tournament director sent and they were pretty confused. They told me the ramps were not closing as far as they knew and there had been a bike race 1 week earlier but nothing they could find on their schedule. They were going to contact there supervisor. Returning from dinner, I met both ranges at the kiosk and they told me they knew nothing about closures and if the ramps were going to be closed they would be notified, because they would have to put up signage. Hmm.
With the Fresno bass club arriving to hold a tournament out of there its easy to surmise that maybe some payola was exchanged to move the CBL instead of FBC.
Now in fairness I did not see the DFG E-mail that was sent to the CBL director, but on the other hand how would he surmize a bike race. There has to be a reason so I'm wondering why DFG would make up a story like that to move CBL. When I told the tournament director what I found he was surprised that DDFG was untruthful to him.
But then again....this is California government NOTHING MORE TO SAY. I think they took the Simon and Garfunkel song "The Boxer" literally.
It'd be interesting to hear DFG's side.
