I was under the impression that those really bright orange colors was a summer time color. Shows how much I know. I'm gonna have to try it next time I'm on the water.

If your fishing in 25 to 45 feet of water this is a very good color for winter in 35° to 45° water temp.

The LMB at Eastman and Hensley lakes eat them in the winter months.
The Spotted bass and Smallmouth will hammer them too.

The Calico bass would jump into the boat to eat those boiled crawdads. Calico’s love orange peel orange!

Thanks for the insight and post jiggin. Waters still a little too warm down here but I will definitely try this color this winter.

Clear with red flake works great for the bass, but SOS flare orange? I doubt it.

Pd you will hammer the bass on this very color in the picture shown you just have to know your limitations
I would school you on a deep water winter jig bite trust me. I don't need FFS on my home lakes. Structure fishing is in my wheel house.

Jig fishing takes patiences that I have a lot of. Winter time fishing can be tuff for some anglers but the right choices and color patterns and matching your jig colors to water clerity will make all the difference in putting bass in your boat. Currently I only have 55 color patterns I build in Jigs 35 color patterns in Chatterbaits 40 color patterns in Spinnerbaits 25 color patterns in Buzzbait. All catch fish at the right times of the year. I'm a big fan of crawdad,Perch and Bluegill color patterns and there are a lot of color patterns out there to match and build.
I do know a little about the subject of those color patterns and styles of jigs that I build and that will produce fish no matter what time of year it is. A little common sense go a long ways when it come to jiggin a few bass up in deeper water around all types of structure in the winter.

The colors in the puffball jig I made in both Round rubber and silicone skirt material I made them for Billy Westmoreland
Sadly he passed away in 2002 this was one of his go to colors for winter time Smallmouth on Dale hollow.
It's not a new color I've been building it for over 20 years now the name is simple it's called Crawdad.
This is where I learn to fish light mono line in 4,6,8,10
Maxima green and spinning outfits and casting outfits from and i still do it to this day. Know your structure your going to be fishing have a good graph keep your bait in the strike zone fish area of the lake where you know the bigger fish are holding in and in the coldest time of the year. You will catch fish no matter if there LMB Smallmouth or Spottedbass it applys to all 3 types of bass on any giving lake.
I never met a bass that didn't like Crawdads, Perch or Bluegill. :D
