Great meeting for BAM and the American Sportfishing Association and Assemblywoman Assemblywoman Lori D. Wilson . It was refreshing to hear that her father is a bass angler and that she’s spent time on the water herself. She showed a genuine interest in the bass fishing community and the challenges we’re facing.
We discussed the Golden Mussel issue, and I shared concerns from our anglers about the need for a unified boat decontamination protocol. The current inconsistencies impact lake access, marinas, local communities, and the overall economic health tied to recreational fishing. It also affects the ability for tournament circuits like BAM to host events across the region forcing us to travel outside the state.
We planted the seed—now let’s see if we can help it grow

No few if any sunfish are including bass. I believe Sacramento perch are the only native sunfish family to California. Red Ears are wide spread in California, not a new non native fish.

Maybe DFG should pick a few lakes as a control and load in a few 100 K and see what happens. Would only improve the fishery.
