New Bullards Bar Dam STORM UPDATE

Post by WB Staff »

STORM UPDATE
We want to assure everyone that New Bullards Bar Dam and Reservoir is safe and fully operational right now and was not impacted by last week’s penstock incident. We have plenty of capacity to manage incoming flows at this time and are currently releasing approximately 1,000 cubic feet of water per second from our spillway. We will adjust throughout the week as needed.
New Bullards Bar continues to do what we built it to do – capture water during large storms to reduce the risk of flooding for the people of Yuba County.

Yuba County has proclaimed a local emergency related to the Feb. 13, 2026 penstock rupture at New Colgate Powerhouse.
There is NO immediate threat to public safety or risk of downstream flooding.
This action allows Yuba County to better coordinate environmental monitoring, cleanup, and response efforts with partners, including Yuba Water Agency. The County has been actively supporting response efforts since the incident occurred.
The proclamation will go before the Yuba County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday, Feb. 24, for ratification.
