Newsflash - BassCenter Canceled, Don Rucks leaving BASS

Post by Guest »

This just in from Bassfan.com...

http://www.bassfan.com/news_article.asp?id=1820

- BassCenter canceled
- Don Rucks leaves BASS
- Terry Tesh leaves BASS

Looks like ESPN got 2 out of 3 right with this one. I tuned in each week to BassCenter via my Tivo and enjoyed the programing up until this past week. Seems they were a little short on content and details this week just before the axe fell. Personally I don't tend to watch ESPN except for the Outdoor Programing (mostly fishing related) and I think my viewership will definely go down even more at this point.

As for Don Rucks, fairwell and don't let the door hit you on the way out.

Good news for Charlie and even better news for legions of members of the 'Get rid of Don Rucks' club.

I too liked BassCenter. Too bad that BASS doesn't have a clue about marketing a show or retooling it when needed, not just cancel it. Oh well, like sTony said, I like Charlie Moore and will be glad to see some new shows in the fall.

I truly hope this is the shakeup BASS needs to get back on track. If not, it could be the beginning (again) of the end.

For Sale: One Bass Fishing Tournament Organization...

Post by Ken C. »

Fixer-upper, needs TLC. Great income potential. Recent remodel started. Owner must sell due to illness.

In reading the BassFan article I can see the corporate-speak that tells me this probably won't be too far down the road!

Here's an interesting thought -

What would happen if FLW bought BASS?

FLW doesn't need BASS

Post by rickyshabazz »

They already have control over the market place. I think that they will continue to watch this thing from afar and continue to set the marketplace based on their interactions with consumers.

It is sad to see what has become of something that we all loved and cared for.

Thank you FLW>

LONG over due...for Rucks!

When you wipe out HALF or more of your org, by letting the fed get away, that was a career stahler!

Hey Cooch, what is wrong with darts..Just a bunch of us old drunks throwing sharp objects and having a little fun..Next to fishing it is my favorite pastime..

Yeah that guy is gonna need to start doing some fishing now, hahah. I loved that show, and will miss it. I think they will replace it with something similar if not reinvent the show at a different time slot.

Bass is looking to change, thats the first step, now just watch flw for a year and copy everything they do and they'll be on the right track.

I'm bummin'.
ESPN cancels BassCenter. I looked forward to it every week and TIVOed it. I guess they couldn't get the advertisers. I'm a Byron fan now, cool guy in person and a good ambassador for the sport, with tons of street cred. Plus he always gave a shout out to the left coast..
I must say that I thought the ridiculously long intro to Bass Basics was a waste of time.
They could have expanded Destination Bass with roving production crews to make up more good content about all the lakes in the country.
I always thought they needed to do a weekly feature on a weekend fisherman (nationally). Kind of a meet Joe Schmoo - most bassers lead interesting lives and have a common passion for the sport that the viewers could identify with..

I hope this isn't a withdrawal from ESPNs commitment to bass fishing..

Adios... (well, you know the rest).

Any truth to the rumor that Gary Bradford is having a celebration party? (jk Gary).

Just kidding. About time. Lets just hope they rebuild rather than scrap it out.
