Today I had the delightful experience of a guided trip with Shawn Bailey. My darling hubby thought I could use a break from a busy workweek and that I might enjoy learning from a pro, so he set me up for a day with Shawn on Casitas, which is my favorite local lake.
I had a great time and learned a bunch. Shawn is a lot of fun and very knowledgeable. I caught a 4 pounder on my first cast and we both continued to catch good fish all day.

Thank you Lance for setting this up for me, and thank you Shawn for a great day! I need to go to sleep now, I've been awake waaaay too long.

Being related to him, i can say he is one heck of a teacher. He seems to have a sixth sence for the little green monsters. I think he might be an alien.

If you havent been out with him at Casitas or Castaic, it's well worth your time. You learn so much just from watching him. I have. Im glad you had a good time and hopefully you can use what he teaches to better your fishing. See ya at Casitas. PB

I have to be honest, its a good thing I sent her out with Shawn.

After all this time fishing with me Ive only put her on rats. She now knows what a bass over 8 inches fights like thanks to:

What I should do is let her run the front of the boat. Cant you hear it now "Hunny this area looks pretty and it has some shade, lets fish here" With my wifes luck thats where the 6 to 10 pounders will be.

She would probably do well up front. And yes it would be where bigger fish are.

Don't worry Lance, I dont want to run the front of the boat; too much work. I will however, true to my wifely obligations, be happy to tell you how to drive it and where to park for the best fishing.

Gracious offer Ray, I would love to learn to jig fish. I admit, jigs are a bit of a mystery to me. Poor Lance just wont listen when I tell him my worming technique. Cast, clear my birds nest, check my line, then pull in the fish. It's really very simple. I dont know what he is doing wrong....

Hmmmm something fishy here. That sounds good Ray. I cant do anything this weekend, doing drywall in the garage, making a "manly" garage, I'm definitely compensating for bad fishing technique or something
