Have any of you figured out your tournament calendar yet?

Post by Ray L. »

I am just starting and am overwhelmed with what is out there for the tournament fisherman this coming season. There is conflicts everywhere and it is very tough to find the right circuits mixing pro am's and team stuff. I am trying to also still fish the fed. for 1 more year. This is brutal. I also want to spend a little bit of time with my family. I don't like to cherry pick stuff as I like to fish a team circuit and qualify for something. The same for the pro am's.
I have 4 circuits or series on my calendar and am still looking at fishing the western challenge that Korney is trying to put together.
I am already looking at fishing 100 days with practice included.
What have the rest of you figured on fishing this season.

Mine is pretty easy....I only have time to fish one thing and I picked the Fed just cause the championship is at Castaic.

If the championship was elsewhere I might have jsut cherry picked a few Castaic tournies that fit into the rest of my life.

Hey Todd how have you been.
Yes the Fed is on my list of tournaments.
Todd have you even tried to figure out what to fish yet?
If you fish the W.O.N. Pro Am's let me know. I am still trying to figure out how to fish the Series. The money is so good but the entry is so steep.
Maybe I will pimp my wife out :o
I know I will get in trouble for that one.

I'm probably gonna fish WON for sure, but I think the Series is a no go for me .. not just the money, but the time off work... I'm trying to figure out the same thing though (How to get my wife to make me more money)

I bet if we pimped both of them together we could make a buck or 2. :o
I hope the series is in the cards for me. W.O.N. Pro Am's is also the Federation as well as 100% bass teams at Castaic & Casitas. I am also going to try and fish the 100% western challenge. If I fish that as well that ads another 20 days of fishing. 120 Days of tournament fishing .....maybe I can cut a check at least once.
Heck I didn't even count the travel days yet. Oh man that could be another 20 to 25 days added on.

The Series, Stren, and i too am cherry picking my face off at Casitas.    Ill throw in a night cicuit as well. JT is the best one around so i think that'll do it. Castaic will suck for a while so ill stay where the donkeys live. Team tournies are a lot of fun but my bro and i are gonna focus on the big ones. Hope you all can make it out to at least one of them. If you've never gone to a FLW event, its AWESOME! The way-in is the best part of it all. All i have to say is Chris Jones. See ya all there.

Just FLW, co-angler side. Probably 3 Stren events and 3 Series events. I need to see an official schedule first to try to make sure I can pull away for 6 weeks of work.

Yes, I still do Ray. They are good rods. However, I'm very excited about the new Gary Dobyns Rods that will be coming out in the very near future. I saw some prototypes and they are awesome. Hopefully, Gary will be giving everyone a sneak peek in the next few months.

Ray, sitting naked in your bath tub with a snoopy pole does not count as days on the water. If you really do plan on fishing that many tournaments, you might eclipse what Tiger Woods just gave to charity in donations.

Not sexual either.
By the way just because you have been on a roll at D.V.L. this summer Kevin. Doesn't mean you won't be donating the rest of the year
I wouldn't talk so mean to me either because you never know what you might get for your wedding present from Diane & I.

Based on the unofficial schedule I have seen there are two events I know I can't fish.

I can't miss work in September, so the Columbia River is out. Even if I were to win the event and be eligible for the boat (co-angler), I'd still lose money missing work that month. Federal government fiscal year end.

I'm moving in January, so taking a week off to fish Shasta isn't going to fly with the wife.

Hey Ray, come on out to DVl as the Grovers DVL exposure will be probably less this year as Kyle wants to fish more Pro events. So.Cal's best lake, and the "Linehans" circuit should be a blast. Besides we are going to have a pro-am there and it will be good practice. Rick G.

Hey Rick .... I would fish Sat. night but I am already going to the U.C.L.A. game. Kick off is at 7 p.m. ...
I went to the first game and that new Q.B. looks awesome. Olson is going to be the next great q.b. to come out of U.C.L.A.
I have not been to D.V.L. since last winter. I think I need to get out there at least a couple of times before your pro am. I might try to fish 1 or 2 of Brian's tournaments. There is just to much in the way of tournaments this year . Not enough days in the year to fish everything I want.

Besides that was a heck of a lot of typing you just did to post your whole schedule.

Unless Hutch has a problem with me working for American Bass at DVL I'll be at the Pro/Ams doing what ever he wants me to do. The money I make doing that helps offset the cost of my team stuff.
And unless Bill has a problem with me working AB I'll be doing his IE events as well. Working the events keeps the cost down. It's probably less work than I would have to do for a sponsor if i were to find one to pay for my events.

I figure there are going to be two big events at DVL. KFRG and Angler's Pro/Am. They give away as good of prizes as the team championships. So I figure that everything else is pre-fishing for those big DVL events. Besides, I still have a lot to learn about DVL.

I just cut and paste for the dates from my word processing program. I've got to make a list of dates for my wife and myself. Now to add in the USAC dates.
