San V. is closed !!!

A note to all that use San Vicente here in San Diego...

As of Sept. 14th San V is closed to all launching of boats! This is a wake up call to us all. This is miss management on the water departments part as to what the water level are at the lakes. This is the first time that San V. has been closed to launching because of low water on the ramp!
I feel it is the beginning of a long fight to keep our lakes open here in San Diego. Our new Director of the City of San Diego Water Department, Jim Barrett, has made comments in the past as to why are we even allowed on our drinking lakes to fish and have water contact? So is this a way of getting us off the lakes by lowering the water level to the point we cannot get on them? The excuse has come from a broken water line issue, I find this hard to believe ( I never saw or read any thing in the news about a broken water line) as they could have pulled water from El Cap when the water got low at San V. I made a few calls and no one can give a me a straight answer as to why ... I know ... its miss management and no one caring enough to monitor the lake level.
I was in a meeting with Mr. Barrett and Mr Richard Haas, Director for Public Works, and was told there would be no change at this time to our schedules or lakes, well here it is 14 days later and it has changed!!!
Because of this they will be moving the water contact over to El Cap starting this weekend by letting them on all of El Cap Saturday and Sunday and possibly Fridays too!
We must call the City of San Diego and start making waves. They don't think we have enough clout to care one way or another. Call the Mayors office, call the closest council member in your area and even call the county supervisor's!!
This is only going to get worse before it gets better ... so do something, make a phone call, write letters!

i could not agree more............i tried to post my concern about oso lake, i had zero interest in that matter? please step up on this matter! NO FISHING SIGNS GIVE ME A HEADACHE
i sent your mayor an email refusing to spend my hard earned fishing money in san diego until he re opens the lake.

reminder to the tournament groups ... this means you will have to move all your tournaments that were scheduled for San V. for October and probably thru December as they would not give me a time frame as to when they would put more water in the lake.
