You might try rigging the bait weedless. It's not as easy to set the hook, but you can fish brush and trees without getting hung up as much.

Re: DAD HAS QUESTION ON DROPSHOT
use a swivel on your dropshot, the worm or whatever you're using will spin when you drop the rig down. This is what causes line twist in a big way. To start use one hook, put the swivel up 12 inches and the bait up 12 inches from the dropshot weight. Don't be afraid to use 1/2 oz. weights, it get the bait down faster and besides you shouldn't be shaking the weight up and down anyhow. Just a steady shake without moving the weight is best. If you're going to cast up towards the bank and shake it back to the boat, then you might use a lighter dropshot weight. Just my 2 cents.

Which swivels are you guys using ? I've tried swivels and haven't noticed a big difference on line twist , I used the standard cheep swivels off the shelf are there better swivels , how about the bearing swivels ? How many times can you work swivel into one post !!
Re: DAD HAS QUESTION ON DROPSHOT
Use American made swivels, use the smallest ball bearing type. The cheap ball bearing swivels do not work smoothly. Just my 2 cents.

Re: DAD HAS QUESTION ON DROPSHOT
DS is a great way for the kids, but line twist will still be there with a swivel. There is no control for the line twist when you drop it to the bottom but when you bring it up to fast that will cause alot of the twist. I gave up with my daughter and just deal with it.
I do use a swivel at times with a 6 1/2 ft rod the swivel is 2 to 3 ft from the hook which allows me 2 to 3 ft for the tag end. I use the smallest black swivels that I can find and quality is important.
I also from time to time will pre tie the rigs and I use card borad/ or foam to rap the rigs up and masking tape to keep them in place and then place it in a I gallon zip lock bag for storage.
