Best place to eat?

Post by BigBossMan »

I fish Lake Oroville a lot and always eat at Blueberry Twist in Oroville (French Toast with a side of country ham w/ a side of Biscuits and Gravy...DELISH!). I also stop at the Black Bear Diner in Gridley, that menu is open season. In Oakley you can't beat Fagan's and I know Mike is opening a Black Bear Diner soon in Oakley. Brentwood has the Brentwood Inn, but I'll take Fagan's first.
So, where are some good places to eat if you're going to particular lake? And, what's the best dish on the menu?

On the Central Coast, Jocko's in Nipomo. The biggest (and best)steaks ever. Good Old Burger in Paso Robles (Nacimiento). Awesome burgers. When I go to Lake Success, Grays Chili Dogs in Porterville.

I really like to eat

Okie Tacos over at orwood for the Delta.
There was a mexican place in Winters (Berryessa) in the same building as round table............

I heard Fagan's has changed hands...??

Dave, when you say Cooch's place, are you talking about his restaraunt (Which became Fagan's - and has maybe changed hands) or is he starting to serve up the yummies at his house???

Paradise Bar & Grill at Sugar Barge has some good grits and the beer's cold, with live music on weekends! They're right off Franks and have a guest dock.

RC's when you're at Shasta without a doubt and Logan's Roadhouse.

The Banta Inn is really good and if you're not worrying about the cash Hiro's in Brentwood is off the hook. If you're just looking for a quick breakfast the Brentwood Cafe in Brentwood works well and Bridgehead Cafe in Anitoch are good and affordable. While on Bethel Island a small place just as you cross the bridge on the left hand side is awesome Mexican food at a great price. I believe it's called La Villa. If burritos and tacos is your thing La Costa right in front of The Hook is a great spot and behind it downt he mall from The Hook is Silver River, only the best chinese you'll find in east contra costa county.

I generally eat at Cassidy's in Oroville.

Susie's Country Oaks Cafe on the corner of Folsom-Auburn Rd. & Douglas Blvd about a mile down the road from the Folsom Lake Granite Bay Entrance. Gimme some piggies-in-a-blanket and some hot coffee! :D

Sylvia's Country Kitchen on Lone Tree in Antioch- breakfast doesn't get much better then this.

Kinders on Lone Tree, all you need to say is Tri Tip Sandwhich!

Sorry sTony, Golden Chopsticks in Oakley muddies up Silver Rivers' waters when it comes to the best chinese around.

I hated to see the 1/4 lber in Brentwood go.

Hiro's is outstanding. It is my top choice sushi, sashimi lunch combo and a Dragon bowl, pure heavan on earth.

If you like sushi and I'm a nut for fresh sashimi, little place in livermore on the corner of First and Los Positas call Manpuku, only the freshest sushi and sashimi you'll find.

The owner of Fagan's in Oakley is seling Fagan's and opening a Black Bear Diner in the near future. It will be located near the new City Hall and Police Station. La Costa in Oakley (IFO the Hook) and there's one in Brentwood, has awesome Mexican food.

Jeff Jewell, the restaurant in Oroville with the big cow is the Golden City Grill (I think). They have great fried chicken.

Tom Atkeson, did you like the food at Orwood or the summertime scenery. The cheese steak was good but the price was crazy...

Are there any good breakfast places in Chico?

Mack's Ole House under the bridge in Oakley! Great food at an affordable price and super cheap drinks to quench your thirst. If you want to get into the pricey stuff around the Delta, Discovery Bay Steak and Sports Bar. This place has the best food in the area, hands down. Also, the eye candy makes you feel like your in LA Beverly Hills!

Don't wait to go fishin!

Post by Cooch »

You all owe it to yerselves, and that lil woman of your's who allows ya ta do all this fishing with out completely beatin ya up and kickin' ya out, to head over to San Ramon and pay a visit to Cafe ESIN! The most incredible, Mediteranian restruant in the east bay!

You can find out more about this little Contra Costa jewel at, WWW.CafeEsin.COM. This place is owned by one of our very own Nutcases, FishCurtis, one of the top chefs in Northern California. I took the entire family there last week for a B-day dinner and we were all amazed with Curtis & Esin's place. That evening I ate the Lamb Shank, but also tasted the signature Pot Roast, Rib Eye and the Shrimp Fettecinni, all spectacular dishes. Excellent wine selection and well drinks, and they got Ports and GRAPPA fer dessert!!

Cafe Esin is a must eat, no brainer, win win kinda place Folks!

I've been eating chinese in Oakley fer 17 years, personally, I'm sorry Dan  , the Golden Chopstiks is on the lower end of Asian fare here. I'll eat at Uncle Wong's before I go back to Golden Chopstiks

I'm with sTony, the Silver River is by far the best Chinese food in Oakley, AND, the owner is a bass fisherman and will talk fishin with ya! LOL

I wouldn't wish Uncle Wong's on my worst enemy, hahaha. I ate at Golden Chopsticks once and have since taken all my chinese eating needs to Michael over at Silver River. He's a great guy who greets me by name everytime I walked into the place, usually has my drink ready for me as I sit in my chair and talks fishing with us as well. Bit by bit we're turning him into a fish catching machine, hahaha. A big key for good chinese and Michael's success is everything is freshly made from fresh quality product.

Gotta thank Gene and Michelle Buchholz of The Hook, Line and Sinker for turning me on to this place. Based on how often I eat there I'm sure Michael thanks them also, hahaha.

Cooch,
I'm sorry that your taste buds are all burned up from all that Italian food you eat. Uncle Wongs! Thats what you feed the relatives you don't want hanging around, it'll send them packing.

Truely there is nothing wrong with Silver River, I just prefer the duck at GC over theirs. I prefer Japanese to Chinese anyday of the week except for Peking Duck on occasion. Chinese overcook everything. 8)

You guys must not have tried Tau Sin Jin?? I've been driving all the way to Antioch to eat there for 15 years! Now they opened up one in Oakley over by pet-smart. That place is da'Bomb! Get the sweet & Sour chicken! Mmm.

For a quick fix, I like Panda Express too. Its in the same area.

I'm sory, but a Chineese Food place by a Pet store? Some people who believe in bad stereo types might start rummors. That would be like selling caskets in Cosco, ha!!

I still love the Meat store. Thursday is beef briskit day! Great steaks too!

Shasta (Redding) - Jack's Bar and Grill. Best steaks in the state! (They've been there for 70 years!) Mike the bartender is the King!
Shasta (Shasta Lake City) RC's
Shasta (Lakehead) - The Basshole (There are better places to eat, but not in Lakehead).
Oroville (breakfast) - Blueberry Twist.
Oroville - The Depot (Great steaks and prime rib; killer Margaritas!
Oroville - Ron's Drive-in (Double cheeseburger, Onion Rings, and a large chocolate malt!).
Clearlake Oaks - They just opened a new Chinese/Thai restaurant next to the Lake Pointe Lodge that is one of the best Chinese restaurants I have ever eaten at. I think it is called Happy Garden, or something like that. It is outstanding!
Delta (Ladds) - Tough to beat The Old Spaghetti Factory on March Lane.
Delta (Oakley) - Fagan's
Delta (Antioch) - Road House, The Red Caboose

There are others, but these are a few of my favorites.
