I believe that November 10 is a legal Hoiliday, Vetern's Day. Can we pre-fish on that day?

No Doubt Brian............

Post by Pete Marino »

The rules are cut and dry. Besides Veterans day is officially on Sat the 11th.
Robert you always seem to be looking for a loop hole.
Who cares about prefishing the day before a tournament anyway?? Go out the sat or sunday the week before and figure out your pattern and you will be better off than showing those fish your bait and risking them biting the day before. No presure the day before is a good thing, I wish some of you guys would realize that.

Just making sure

Post by Schneider Fishing »

we are all on the same page. A couple years back when ABA/WON had a similar off limits policy I was told that since it was a legal holiday that I could fish. I think the reason given was that the organization didn't want to keep families off the water because of a tournament off limit policy. Did you notice that NBW is allowing fishing on Monday, January 1st. Monday before their Southwest region event on January 6th.
Not looking for loop holes just wanting to be on top of things. I don't even know if anyone considered any of the holidays.

It's a Forum

Post by Schneider Fishing »

for discussions so let's discuss it.

I didn't see anything in the WON Bass rules for a Jan. 1 exception (It doesn't appear that they have a January 6 or 7 event to have to worry about it:

D. Off Limits - The Inland Empire, Southern California, and San Diego region team events will have a Monday-Friday off limits period prior to a Saturday tournament in that region. Should the tournament fall on a Sunday, anglers will be allowed to pre-fish on the Saturday before to allow them to compete in any other circuit who may be fishing on the day prior to the WON event. All other WON Teams regions will have no off limits period prior to a tournament.
--------------
American Bass doesn't say anything about Holiday's. It says check with the tournament director for different fish schedules.

15) PRETOURNAMENT PRACTICE (PRE-FISHING) - Most regions do not allow pre-fishing on the tournament lake for 5 days, Monday - Friday, prior to the tournament. However, some regions have different pre-fish schedules. Check with the Regional Tournament Director for each event.
---------------
100% Bass. I thought they were going to jump on the off-limits band wagon as well. But this is what I found on their web site.

33. Lake Off-Limits: There is No off limits period for any 100% BASS event with the exception of the Championship tournaments, to be held at the end of each season. The off limits for any championship will be given to each contestant prior to the event. You may not talk with anyone who has fished the Championship waters during the off limits period.
-------------
US Angler's Choice. Leaves off-limits totally up to each tournament director.

15.) OFF LIMITS PERIOD: Angler's Choice does not impose an "Off limits period" however, each tournament director at their discretion may do so. Clarify this rule with your local tournament director.

KISS

Post by Brian Linehan »

Robert, I know you are fairly new to the game and my motto for you is: KISS

KEEP IT SIMPLE SCHNEIDER

100% BASS, ABA, WON, and AC are all the same in regard to their off limits rule for the So. Cal, DVL, Perris, and San Diego regions.

When reading the rules for these orgs, you have to remember that the rules you are reading apply to other regions such as Northern Cali or Havasu.

Ron's recent post on the subject was very clear I thought.

I know you don't mean any harm in this thread. However, don't make it confusing.

As far as 100% jumping the bandwagon? You must have forgotten that 100% was the first organization to go public with the Mon-Fri off limits.

KISS,
Brian

That's Keep It Simple Mr. Schneider (KISMS)

Post by Schneider Fishing »

 I don't have a problem with the off limits. It anything it levels they field for me as I'm a teacher. Monday - Friday unless there's a holiday I'm in class. We don't get vacation options.
I remember most of the discussions. Like I said, I thought 100% was on the band wagon.
I don't remember any of us discussing about holidays. Why didn't we? Maybe we just didn't think about it or maybe we didn't care. So, do holidays matter, should they matter? Why New Years and not Veteran's Day or MLK or any othe many other's that the post office and banks and yes, schools are closed for? Just a discussion. Not a rant. So, any thoughts?

Robert, think of it as a challenge. That is going to be Kyle and I's approach to this years events. Just go cold, and if you can figure it out that day you have really earned your money. Rick G.

Robert, you don't just have to fish one or two lakes all year. You have a few lakes that are still within your driving limits;ie silverwood and skinner plus kramers favorite mud hole.
