Question...

Post by Quantum_Kid »

I live in Livermore, and I was wondering where would be a good place to throw a swimbait this winter, but nearby?

Del Valle is 10 minutes from my house, then there is Los Vasqueros (I heard that is a good place), Shadow Cliffs, and the Delta.

What would be my best bet?

Thanks in advance,

all those places are good to great places to throw. if i had to choose it would be hard. follow the trout plants if you are going to del valle. they got a good number of good size fish and stripe bass too. shodow cliffs i think have plants too. if you go out to the delta shoot out to franks and big break. if you don't get a largemouth you have a great chance or getting a stripe bass.

I love throwing swimbaits at shadow cliffs. I have seen some absolute tanks follow my hudd up to my boat. Although I haven't hooked up yet, I hope to soon.

OK...
Thanks for the responses, but I have one more question I forgot to ask.

aNNieNsaLTIE, you said Del Valle would be a good bet. Should I fish the narrows, by the ramp, or down by the dam?

Same question for all of the locations.

Once again, Thank you all

do you have any electronic? if the water is not low YET....right down the narrows it really closes up. all those flats on the right side drop off really good and the fish (trout too) have to funnel through there when they plant. i have seen some tanks swimming around there. if the water is super low. if they shy off the hudd or slammers tie on a 128 pointer w/ upgraded hooks and fish it suttle, long pauses. you'll get them.
