Big Bags on Folsom

Post by Phil Crader »

The Folsom Reports page got me wondering how many times tournaments on Folsom have been won with bags in excess of 20 pounds? I can think of 5 times between 2001 and now. Some of these are from my memory, so I apologize if the names, dates, or weights are off. Can you guys add to the list?

1. Cuccia and Stoltz - 29.8 pounds - December 2001
2. Scarberry and German - 20.7 pounds - Folsom Bass Team, November 2002
3. Scarberry and Moore ~ 20 pounds - Future Pro TOC, 2002???
4. Singer and Gee ~ 22 pounds - Folsom Bass League, 2005
5. McDaniel and Nelson ~ 28 pounds - Golden State, May 2006

Yes, Phil your list is not comprehensive as it does not include studs such as myself and JIM SCARLETT that do not fish tournament circuts and are very happy just rubbing it into the face of all of the tournament guys that are struggling by posting our catches without pictures in the reports page.

Why are you such a hater

Phil, theres been a lot of bags over twenty...just some of the weights from '06 alone:

VanClef/Wright - 31.37 at an ABA event in April (I believe there were four bags over 20 there).

Fenske/Colin - 20.51 at an AC event 2/12/06 (two bags over 20)

Perry/Green ABA 2/26 26.99lbs.

and if my memory serves Victor Fong and Cal Gladden had like 28 lbs (or something like that at the '05 Galaxie tourney?)

Thanks, Greg. I mostly fish club events, so witnessing 20+ bags at Folsom are a rarity to me. That's the point of my post. I'm trying to find out how often people weigh them. If they are that common, then I don't think the reports are that unbelievable.

The weekend after Andy and I had the 29 pound limit Brad Taggart and Dave Rush had a big bag in a Folsom tournaments also. I want to say it was was 25+ but I don't remember for sure and I can't find it anywhere on the internet. Likely was either a NewBass or AC tournament. If I remember correctly Taggart was alone for that tournament also which made it an even more special limit.

NewBass would have been a 7 fish bag.

There has been so many lately we could never get them all. This year, Won Bass Teams 4-15-06
Davis/Rambeaut 22.65
Preston/Johnson 21.10
Langlois/Perry 21.05
and there was only 15 boats in that tournament.

I remember a Newbass where I weighed in 21+ and Mike Tuck weighed in 22,and on top of that all my fish were Spotted Bass and it was 5 fish.

The one I will never forget was Preston Henson and Josh the year before last when they weighed in three 25lb bags in a row in the Won Bass Teams.
If you dont have 20lbs in the spring you might not even get a check!
