GPS Module Not responding!!

Post by Marone »

I plugged in some weed points in franks tract on my Lowrance 480 and the gps module stopped responding!!! What the heck.. I haven't tried doing the reset yet but the Finder came installed on my new crestiner. Haven't had problem with it once until i added all of those waypoints on it. why does this happen?

I had the same problem with my LMS 480. Go to the lowrance web site and download the newest software, put it on a MMC card and update the software in your unit. That should solve your problem, it worked for me. Hope this helps.

thanks, i called them and they're sending me a card with the update on it and took my Credit card number so that i'll return the card! Sweet. Well, i guess it's better than buying the $400.oo accesory pack.

Just had the same problem this weekend! The only difference is I was installing mine. Before you do too much, check and make sure that the 3 amp fuse for the gps module power isn't blown. I finally figured out that that was the problem after about 6 hours  But at least I got it fixed in time to go fishing :D

Good luck!

Go get yourself an MMC card and a card reader at someplace like Fry's Electronics (Frys.com). Usually you can get a 512 or bigger card for under $20 and an 8-in-1 reader for under $10. That way you can transfer your waypoints from your boat to your PC.

If you bought the entire package from the dealer they not only shorted you the cord and reader they may have shorted you the MapCreate mapping software as well. You should check with the dealer to see exactly what it was you purchased.
