weedless treble hooks on crankbaits?

Post by MikeD »

good? bad? problems?

figure there will be some effect on bait action

seems like the stoutness of the available weedless trebles (mustad w3551, eagle claw L554) is low

most 'normal' sized crankbaits use a #2 hook, with oversized bodies running a #4 - yes?

looked for wire guards that I could attach to non weedless hooks to make them weedless without luck.

best solution would be a 3x strong weedless treble, but no luck there either

like to rip them thru grass with minimal hangups - any other suggestions appreciated

all I can think of is kink 3 pieces of mono so that the two ends are even with eachother and the kink sits near the barb tie the two ends of each to the shank of the hook.....you would have to play with what diamater line wold be best too stiff and you will miss fish too limp and you will still hang on the grass.

Or like the banjo minnow had use rubber bands?
