If you're in the San Jose area (or nearby) check out the Bass Classics of Santa Clara Valley (http://www.bassclassics.org) ... or PM me directly.

Hey Rob. Check out the Sacramento Bass Wranglers if you're in the Sacramento area. We are draw style club, shared weight (basically a team tournament with a new partner each event). We are basically about having fun. Here's a link to my last post, it has a schedule and other info.

We actually have a member in the modesto area. We are hitting the delta twice, Pardee, Don Pedro, and Camanche. Club meetings are not mandatory either.

Sonora Bass Club I believe is a team format...They fish the mother lode and the delta. I'm sure you can fish with your dad all the time..

CLUB FORMAT - Team Tournament Fishing
1. Saturday tournaments only.

2. True Team Fishing. 2 persons per boat. 7 fish limit (If you fish alone, 5 fish limit)

3. No draw for non-boaters. Non-boaters must join club with a boater.

4. Members may fish alone or with a guest anytime except T.O.C.

5. No DQ's for late arrivals. Friendly, trusting, fun. That's what we are all about.

6. $60 per year membership fee (per team)

7. $30 per team to fish per tournament

8. 80/20 pay out plus Big Fish Pool (at weigh-in)

9. Meeting attendance NOT mandatory. NO fines.

10.Club encourages Husband/wife or Father/son or Mother/daughter or Mother/son teams

11.Very friendly and family oriented club. Low key and a very sharing club.

12.The best new bass club around, check us out. You'll love it!!!

Johmmy C.,
Your club sounds like great. I know a lot of people join clubs to compete, and learn, as a stepping stone to tournament trails, so they like the boater/non-boater draw system. That's what my club has, and it's fine with me. But a lot of people join our club just to be able to fish with and be a part of a group of friends. Sounds like your club format is a perfect blend. Good luck.

Not my club Mark

Post by Johnny C »

I was just answering the gentlemans post...I prefer not to be in a club, but I thought this was what Big-Rob was looking for..There are a lot of nice people in this club..Infact I wish more of them would support the team orgs that come to our area. But I know with families this can be tough..

Sonora Bass only has 2 openings left, currently 23 of the 25 total team spots are filled, Johnny is right about the quality of the club, lots of good folks and good sticks. great place to learn

Stockton Bass is doing an amateur side next year too that is team oriented but all events are on the delta (not that there is anything wrong with that...)

Tons of clubs around, check the club pages and start getting emails and phone calls out, the 2007 season is right around the corner

Hi BigRob. I invite you to join The Modesto AmBassAdors at our next meeting on Dec. 7th @ 7 p.m. at Monaco's restaraunt in Modesto. We have finished our lake selection for the '07 season and it looks to be another exciting year. Our season opener is the following Sunday on the 10th that takes us to Lake McClure to start our '07 season. This would be a real good opportunity for you and your dad to come and join us on an outing and see what you think of our club! Our club travels to both the Delta as well as our Mother Lode lakes throughout the year. We also have two 2 day out-of-town events that take us to Lake Sonoma in the spring time and Clear Lake in the fall. Our clubs format for next year will be a draw team format. You can PM me @ tortega@parker.com with any questions or call me at home @ 209-852-9971 and I can tell you more about our club. Thanks, Thad Ortega-President, Modesto AmBassAdors

O.K., o.k.; I gotta throw in my 2-cents. West Valley BassMasters of Tracy has enjoyed a draw-team format for a number of years. We also happen to be the reigning winners of the annual Northern California Club Championship held last month out of Russo’s. The trophy is currently on display at Tracy Oasis Marina.

You wouldn’t be the only guys coming from Modesto and, though we’d love to see you, meetings aren’t mandatory, they just make you a better angler. We fish mostly the Delta, but not exclusively (how can you not fish Clear Lake?).

The club charges $200 per year to join, but that includes your Federation dues for the year (w/insurance), hat, shirt, Christmas Party, several BBQ’s, our End-O-Da-Year event complete w/lovely parting gifts, and a spot in each of our tournaments with no additional club fees. Our year runs from October 1st through September 30th, so we’re not askin’ for dues when the Christmas bills come in. Gimme a call any time (209-832-5041) or drop me a note.

We are not the club to join if you’re looking to make house payments. The winning team of our events gets $50 to split, but they also get a priceless piece of tin. Big fish money is collected prior to blast off and paid after weigh-in; it’s not a club function.

Big-rob, I would recommend giving the Modesto AmBassAdors a look. They are a GREAT bunch of guys, and there are quite a few "sticks" as well. I have been a member for the last couple years, and not being able to fish with these guys (do to work, family schedule, etc.) the last several months has been a major bummer. If you and your dad are interested in joining one of the BEST clubs in the area, give them a try. www.modestoambassadors.com
Don't ask about my username, all I need to say is check yours and check them often.
