I hear what your saying Shaun. Yeah you got stones for sticking up
for yours since you’re the minority. But no matter what it is in life each person is going to vote for what benefits them the most .You guide and spend a lot of time on the water. So this no pre-fish will be a pain in the @ss for you. So you’re sticking up for what you want. No-matter what happens I’m not going to change the way I fish. I only get so much time off of work and that means no pre fish. I never really have pre-fished as you can tell from my tournament finishes. Your comment about the weekend warrior gave me a flash back of when your new partner was talking smack at the fin. And you know how I feel about that. I do wish I had a job that allowed me to fish like you. But I don’t so F it. Don’t take anything I said the wrong way, you and your bro are good people. I just have issues with C dog and I know he made me and Rob look bad to you. But like I said
lets get our fish on and forget about the B.S.. The tournament directors will make up their minds soon enough..

I didn’t know it was you Paul, You sexy bastard. But watch what you say about bringing guns to the lake.
Some people might take that as a threat. By the way what model Glock you got? I’ve got A Glock 23. a pocket cannon. I couldn’t afford a sig so I had to settle with the Glocks. I used to be into hunting big time but that got boring with all of the people that decided to start hunting the past 5 years. I couldn’t go anywhere with out running into 5 guys. I hope to hear you hooting and hollering Saturday night. I hope to make a little noise too!

The real issue

Post by Rick G »

As a guy that can fish anyday, the real issue is that if it makes the fishing better on t-day that is all that matters. You take you 1 day off, get all your stuff ready, do your homework and you want to SMOKE-EM. Our lakes are small, lets give the fish a break. Rick G.

I think it should be monday thru friday , because that will make the stakes even better for those who still cant practice on friday's , and if you really think about it , it will bring more anglers too the event's , and that will increase the filed's along with the pay outs.

I think the off limits should be re-instated, but Friday should also be off limits. I'm not saying this because I can't fish during the week. I can fish any days I want. I think that the significant drop in number of anglers per tournament coincided with the elimination of the off limits period. The average tournament guys figure they dont have a very good chance anymore due to many of the known guys fishing 2-4 days right before the tournament. Sometimes, many times conditions change from the last weekend and the guys that have been there all week have figured this out but the guys that prefished last Sunday dont know until maybe 1/3 of the way through the tournament and by then it's hard to make up ground. The great fisherman, like Mike Hart, Shawn Bailey, and Mike B. will still shine because they will figure it out quicker on tournament day. The team tourneys need to be fun again. For the guys who have all this time to prefish, go pro and really shine, team tourneys arent going to get you in the Classic.

Yes! I have been fishing for 30 + years and I believe that all tournaments should be off limits 1 week prior to the tournament. This would not only help level the field but would also reduce pressure on our lakes and save fuel cost which in turn might bring back more people to the tournaments as well. With all the orgazition there are now we need to be aware of what is happing as an over all, and not just be concerned about our own little origination. We need to think about the future of bass fishing and what it is becoming. I believe if we keep up with this pace of pounding all the lakes all the time we will end up in trouble, remember we are only barrowing the resources we don’t want to destroy them.
I also think a lot of really good fisherman quit because of the cheating that has been going on and this is one way of stopping at least some of that. As far as breaking rules and cheating there is no excuse for it and anyone caught doing should be ban for life from all organizations. And for those who dont know me as spike it stands for .Steve Pike

Just a thought. If the directors gave out the baits to use on that given tournament then you could pre-fish your *** off and talk to anyone you want but it would not make any difference since you dont know what you will be throwing on T day. Even if you knew the lake well you would still be faced with a challenge. And isn't that what its all about.
Any thoughts??????????

I think you might be onto something. I think that would be cool to show up and have to fish the same thing as everyone else.
It would be more of a challenge.

THE LAST YEAR I FISHED REAL HARD IN TEAM TOURNYS WAS IN 1990. I FISHED WON BASS SO CAL WHEN RON C WAS JUST A KID RUNNING THE SHOW. AT THAT TIME THERE WAS OFF LIMITS MON THRU FRIDAY. I GUESS WE HAD AN AVERAGE (RON, CORRECT ME IF IM WRONG) OF ABOUT 75 TEAMS PER EVENT. I WOULD PRE FISH ON THE SUNDAY PRIOR TO THE EVENT. MY PARTNER AND I FINISHED 2ND OR 3RD OVERALL WITH ARRON AND HIS MOM FINISHING FIRST. I REMEMBER HOW GOOD IT FELT TO PLACE SO HIGH ESPECIALLY IN THE COMPANY OF ANGLERS THAT I FISHED AGAINST. IT WAS HARD WORK BACK THAN DUE TO THE FACT THAT YOU FISHED AGAINST SO MANY GOOD TEAMS. NO BODY HAD AN ADVANTAGE OVER THE OTHERS. IT KINDA MADE IT AN EVEN PLAYING FIELD. NOW, WITH SOOOO MANY ORGANIZATIONS TO FISH WITH, WITH NO OFF LIMITS, ITS NO WONDER YOU SEE A POOR AVERAGE OF TURNOUTS FOR THESE EVENTS. YOU REALLY CANT BRAG TO LOUD WITH ONLY 15 TEAMS TO FISH AGAINST. I FEEL THAT IF THERE WAS A OFF LIMITS PEROID TODAY, YOU WOULD HAVE MORE ANGLERS SHOWING UP AT ALL THESE EVENTS WHICH IN TURN WILL BRING THE CASH PAYOUTS UP SEVERAL NOTCHES. REMEMBER THE SIGN UPS AT THE MOBILE MINI MART? I SAY BRING BACK THE GOOD OL DAYS!

I agree with the off limits with one prefish day, the day before. If I can get away and prefish the day before, like for my club's two day tourney at Cachuma next month, I'll do it. If not, I'll try to figure out what the fish are doing first thing on tourney day. A good prefish doesn't mean a good tournament, and one day isn't going to give anyone a huge advantage. And polygraphs for the winners will insure no cheaters.

I live in Aliso Viejo and fish the San Diego circuit. I chose it as it is closer than the So Cal region for WON Basscircuit . I find that most people fishing the SD circuit live no more that a half hour from any of the 4 lakes that we fish and routinely go there during the week, sometimes after work. I preface what I am about to say by saying these guys are great fisherman, but it really puts me at a big disadvantage on me by living 1 1/2 -2 hours away and only getting out on weekends. I constantly hear "Dock Talk" of people who say they were out at San Vincente on Thursday and killed them and did even better on Friday before the tournament. Would I like to see a Off Limits? You Bet!! It would give weekend anglers or long distance anglers a fairer playing field...not to mention the better fish counts at the weigh ins.

I was just wondering what I originally said about the off limits. maybe someof you want to re-read as well. Since there seems to be some folks not happy with the current off-limits rules for WON/AB/NBW I wonder if the new organizations (100%/AC) coming in without events until January will re-think their positions? It'll be intersting to see how this all pans out.

I can remember when I first got back from Hawaii and started fishing ABA and WON when they used to draw 60+ boats. Now with so many circuits and regions the fields are a lot smaller. It just seems like there are so many guys out pre-fishing for one thing or another its hard to keep up. I work Mon-Fri and Mon-Sat alternate so I am in favor of a No fish rule Mon-Fri. I've never cashed a checked but it kinda sucks when I only have one day to pre-fish and someone comes in with a fat sack he found during the week. I agree that in order to become proficient you have to spend time on the water, No Doubt. But thats why you guys have Pro/Am circuits. The way I look at it you have your club level, then your team events, then your pro team events then pro/ams. I used to think that team events were the next level up from clubs and so on. I believe that mon-fri no fish levels the playing field for the average angler.

It is only a couple of tournaments into the season,,, Let's leave it alone, and revisit at the end of the year,,, But I do agree, it would help if all organizations were doing it the same, and I "thought" that was where we were currently at?
My vote is still: Monday - Friday off limits,,,

how about a compromise

Post by smpboy »

i think that since we have so many tounament orginaztions that some should be off limits and some shouldnt, that way the anglers can chose which 1 they want to fish, it seems to be a 50/50 poll so maybe a orginazation that does choose a offlimits would benifit and attract new people cause lets face it, it is usually the same 20 boats that show up to every tournament and 10 or so boats that are off and on... [/b]

My vote is to do away with all off limits. This is coming from one of the older fishermen not yet retired but who is afraid that he may get on the road and forget which lake he was headed to.This way it wouldn't matter where he ended up he could fish and not worry if he was violating a rule .

My vote is MON - FRI offlimits...

Post by DB »

I agree with Eric Wong completely, if you are going to have off-limits they should be Mon - Fri. In my opinion, they are in effect to support an even playing field - which supports the fishermen who have to work 5 days a week Mon - Friday. Allowing pre-fish on Friday defeats the whole purpose.

I think some people are not voting because they are not for either the Mon - Thurs OR the Leave it the way it is option because they are for MON - FRI which is not listed as an option!

Let me get this straight,if you fish one circuit on Saturday then another Sunday on the same lake that is ok right. :?:

If the tournament is Sunday and you have a Monday thru Thursday off limit's you cant pre-fish Saturday correct :?:

I am so confused,of course i could pre-fish every day and it would not make a differance.Does this apply to every orginization down there.
