DVL survey yesterday at the National Bass West tournament
DVL survey yesterday at the National Bass West tournament
I just wanted to say that it was National Bass West's unscientific study on how the anglers that support National Bass West felt on the "off limits" issue. This survey was not initiated by Last Chance Bait and Tackle or Diamond Valley Lake staff. It was solely National Bass West.
Mike and I have conducted a survey at the 2 Southwest, tournaments and this last Diamond Valley tournament.
For the Southwest events, we asked the anglers when they signed up in the morning how they felt on the "off limits" issue. The results were nearly split
The first tournament the "No Off Limits" won by 1 vote however 2 teams were not polled and there were 5 anglers that had no opinion.
The second tournament the "No Off Limits" won by 3 votes.
For the Diamond Valley Region, Meagan from Last Chance Bait and Tackle did us a favor and polled the anglers that weighed in fish whether or not they liked the off limits. The results were in favor of the "Off Limits" by a vote of 38 to 25 wanting "No Off Limits".
For us, National Bass West, it is absolutely IMPOSSIBLE to enforce this rule. We check the CF numbers at the lake (Castaic being the only lake for our tournaments that keeps track) for the week prior to the tournament. However this being said I received many phone calls on Friday because of the off limits issue and the possibility of anglers having others "pre-fish" for them, or whether or not the anglers could be using other anglers boats for pre-fish. One angler even asked why I hadn’t spent the night and check the CF numbers on the boats on Friday morning that fished the lake. We do have staff that does check the lake during the week. We feel that the anglers do abide by the 'off limits' issue even if they do not like the rule.
One angler asked why do the organizations have a rule that you cannot 100% enforce. That is a GREAT question. Understanding the anglers do police the lakes also and that IF someone was to pre-fish the results if caught are detrimental for them in the fishing world. What about the anglers that talk to other anglers that are not fishing that weekend and fish the lake and then share the information with them…..
Due to the number of calls that we are getting regarding the “Off Limitsâ€

How about a poll on how to qualify for the classic?
That's something you can enforce 100% but that didn't happen. As far as I know it's a "No Fish" rule not "No info" rule. Why even think about changing the rules durring the season? My bad, that's what NBW does. Your "POLL" blows. Sounds like a waste of time like my time spent on this horrible subject. This forum is going down the crapper!

Easy there Guy, it sounds as if they are just taking a poll to see how anglers like the "off limits" rule so far this season. Maybe NBW wants to get a feel of how things are going so far, is that so wrong? No need to tell Lynne her poll "blows", you are a real class act with that post.
Re: DVL survey yesterday at the National Bass West tournamen
Precisely the reason I won't fish NBW. Thanks for clearing things up.
Re: DVL survey yesterday at the National Bass West tournamen
You can't change rules in the middle of the season. The only thing that can be changed is if another agency changes there rules. Like if D.F.G. changed something that effected the organization and it's rules or if a lake changed it's rules.Or if it was a safety issue and could improve it. It is unethical and just downright wrong because some anglers may not know about the rule change until it is too late. Each organization has the same problem enforcing this rule. It is not like only 1 org. has this problem of policing the lakes.
I am glad though that the Fed. does not have off limits. I voted for it but I voted for Mon. thru thursday off limits. Pre fish on Friday.

Your right TDmize...............
I've been a bad boy. I should not have said that it "BLOWS" because it's not proper to say things like that. I should have said that NBW is talking to it's anglers and want to make them happy. NBW is the most upstanding org that we have today because NBW strives to follow the printed rules and make rule changes to keep everyone's best interest in the forfront.

P.S.- I tried and it didn't work. The "POLL" still blows, along with NBW's standards of ethics.

If you give someone enough rope they will undoubtedly hang themselves with it. At least this year the rules will change before the fishoff, that way everyone will know where the sucker punch is coming from. Obviously there is dissention in the ranks of NBW or this discussion would be brought up in June, AFTER the season is over. NBW cracks me up.

Re: Your right TDmize...............
NBW is scandalous. You'd think after what they just went through at the TOC, they would start paying attention to the rules.
However, for all of you guys who fished the Castaic tournament last weekend, how do you feel that a team who happened to finish in the money was on the lake on Friday? NBW had an off limits rule like the rest of the organizations for the Castaic event. They allowed a guy to go to the lake because he told them that he had to break his boat in. How funny is that? Why couldn't that person go to Piru, Casitas, or Pyramid? This is exactly why I as well as many others can't trust them. It makes me wonder what happens that we don't even know about.
The point is, NBW has a history of not following the rules and making exceptions when convenient. If I was at that Castaic tournament, I'd be really upset.
In addition, of course Last Chance and the DVL concession wants a no off limits result. They want our money. Ha Ha That's business. Deal with it.

Re: Your right TDmize...............
IS THIS CONFIRMED??? Or is this FUD??? If the former, then NBW has no integrity, given the issues from the TOC as far as they've been communicated. I will not be joining, nor fishing, NBW events. I will not sanction an organization that has little or no credibility.
Re: Your right TDmize...............
Come on chatterbait is that really true. If so sweet NBW no off limits Lynn can I still get a membership for this year. NO forget it I like the off limits.
