National Bass West
National Bass West
For last Friday at Castaic, National Bass West, I’d like to clear the air and explain exactly what happened.
Last Friday, Eric Carter who works for Lakeside Boat Service in Castaic, called and said that his boss had asked him to take one of their CUSTOMERS (not a bass boat and the boat did not have the electronics hooked up) boat out due to cavitating issue. Eric said that he needed to start the big motor so the lower lake was not an option. I told him that he could go on the lake, BUT don’t take any tackle, don’t take any electronics, don’t tour the lake, get the boat on and off the lake.
David Handy, a well respected man with high values, dropped Eric in the lake, never leaving the launch ramp. Eric never went further than 40-50 yards outside the 5 miles per hour buoy line. He made a right got on plain, and then a left turn got on plain, check out the issues at hand and was back on dry land all well within 10 MINUTES. Eric was in the view of David the ENTIRE time. David told me personally that he did watch Eric and that he DID NOT SCOUT fish. Eric did his job and off the lake in a matter of minutes.
If you want the story first hand, please contact Eric at (661-297-4381) or when you see David Handy at a tournament ask him personally. Eric in NO WAY scouted out fish or scouted the lake for a “pre-fishâ€

Re: National Bass West
So that's why I didn't catch any fish
Lynn, you have to be real careful running your tournaments because truth be told people look for any excuse about why they did not catch fish. It could be an east wind or a sudden drop in water temperature or my fish moved, my electronics broke or whatever. When you add the fact that it cost them a few hundred dollars to compete on top of not catching enough fish to get some of their money back, well now you have a real problem. Play by your rules and nobody will get their feelings hurt.

Re: National Bass West
Personally, from the posts I have read, there are other competing circuits doing the NBW bashing (it is ashame, that Lynne even has to do a rebuttal).
I have fished a few different NBW tournaments and they have been ran excellent with Coffee and donuts in the morning and one of the quickest weigh-in and cash awards I have ever seen.
I think Western Bass is going to change this forum name to the "Crying Board" as all I have been hearing is a bunch of whining with no one looking for an equitable solution to the problems.
These purses at this level are small enough so there should be all of this complaining.
Like I tell my 7 year old son when he falls and gets a little bruise "Man it out"!
KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK LYNNE!

Re: National Bass West
Keith, I dont think that anyone directly involved with any competing circuit has bashed NBW. Just a few former anglers that have had direct problems with "rules interpretations" by NBW staff. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, in fact I remember ABA getting ripped on this site many times and they have recovered just fine. Mike and Lynn have been way too nice on some issues and have learned some lessons the hard way. But they run a great trail and will be very successful in the long haul. Sometimes as T/D's you just need to be a dictator. Some anglers fish some curcuits and some others so you are always going to get an opinion on who is best. It is just the nature of our sport. Re: National Bass West
Rick,
I think your right on about learning how to run a circut. You need to have a tough enough skin to do things your own way, and learn to turn down people who are asking for what sound like reasonable "exceptions" to the rules they, and everyone else, have already agreed to.
My Dad had me running construction work when I was still in my teens, and he told me, " You'll know you're doing your job when your name is on the sh*thouse wall!" He meant, you don't have to be popular, you just have to do your job, and demand that everyone else does theirs.
School is expensive, especially the school of hard knocks, but we all learn most of our most valuable lessons in life the hard way, through trial and error.
My hat's off to those who are willing to hike up their britches and give it a go. Good luck to NBW.

Whether it be life or business, people make mistakes. The greatest measure of future success is what is done about it. I've seen a lot of NBW bashing on here lately. Jumpin to conclusions would lead me to say "I won't fish NBW". However, I'm waiting to see what happens and how they deal with all the drama...then I will make a decision as to where I rank them and if I support their organization in the future.

Lynn, Let me get started by saying EVERYONE with a cry'in towel get over it. As you all know I'm a Anglers Marine, Ranger, Mercury, guy, so why should I give NBW a thumbs up. Mike & Lynn are paying back US guys, WAAAAYYYYYY better than anyone else. If you want this to disappear keep up the cry'in and they may just say We've had enough of this BS. Wake up and smell the Starbucks. Havasu is looking foward to seeing Mike & Lynn soon.....mg
I suppose....
now would be the wrong time to ask why at Castaic 4th place got 3rd place money, and 3rd place got 5th place money??? that would be whining. But all is good because they have fast weigh-ins and give you free donuts and coffee in the morning.
You guys keep drinking the cool-aid and sticking your heads in the sand and you may be next....

This is called gossip!!!
Why don't you ,and whoever you got this information from, go to the tournament director and see what happened instead of assumming the worse.
Do you actually think someone acted with intentional malice?[/quote]

Re: National Bass West
The Crying Board, hahaha. I like that one. In all honesty the Northwest forum is just as bad or worse when it comes to such threads.I think Western Bass is going to change this forum name to the "Crying Board"
It is brutal when TD's and tournament officials have to come in to this forum to explain themselves when in truth if you have a problem with someone you should really take it up them personally. Give a person a chance to explain themselves and hear your opinions direct. That would seem most fair and might event serve to keep some of the confrontation from ever appearing publicly like it has.
But by no means is it a SoCal phenomenon, it happens even more regularly up north.

Re: National Bass West
This is weak sauce here lets all go and pamper NBW while they keep on screwing the anglers. This forum is built to give out info. so be it if its negative . you mess with people hard earned money and think its ok what ever I believe if someone does something wrong and it affects many let it be known I don't like getting screwed, and for the people who love NBW keep on loving ,cause I bet 100% comes out strong in the new year

Re: National Bass West
Ok beever, I will sit quietly by and watch the rest of you fools pour money into the GFY cash machine. I cant use the real name of the org. because that would be bashing and whining. I decided that GFY would not get anymore of my money when GFY ripped off the face of its organization and sold out the very man that put them on the so cal map.
And as far as a direct message to subject of my post, I dont care what GFY has to say about the situation. It started 6 months ago and has only gotten worse. This year is definitely going to be interesting, thanks to GFY.
Good bye

Unlike the pro's who fish for a living, I still go to an office with 3 walls and a view of beautiful Harbor Blvd (joking about the beautiful part) and a computer in front of me. With that being said, I am not going to lose sleep over what may have been because of someone's mistake. Now if that mistake continues to reappear, then I will reevaluate the situation and see if the organization is taking the necessary precautions. If they aren't, then I won't fish their circuits.
Until I see an organization that actually has ill intent, I am going continue to fish their tournaments .

Re: National Bass West
Cmon!!! Now its rip NBW, prior to them it was WON bashing, before them ABA was being called out for not doing what "should" be done...honestly guys, I understand (somewhat) what the beefs are. Ya think maybe , just maybe for one minute you can actually e-mail the "alphabet" club who ever it is,in private and discuss in private some of this stuff? Like adults in business(which it is!) I drive a Chev,I dont need to bash Dodge,Ford,well...I could,lol...you get what I mean? Spend your money where ever you like, unless Pelosi gets it...its yours to spend(joke) Or maybe step back...(applause)...and start your own circuit which a couple or so are--thats how they all started. Not one of these organizations are out to screw anyone. Period. Maybe yours and there objections are not always identical....just like at home huh? How would anyone here like it if they get there silly butt up at 2 am..get to the lake..and be told..."your here to screw me,we dont want you-go home." Man -up seriously !! Ya dont like the it when you get 2nd,and 1st gets twice the cash? But you love everybody and preach "always get all the options" when you get third with all the options ,and cash a better day than the leaders, cause they didnt want to spend the extra bucks....I maybe the minority being vocal...what is it exactly you want-and what are you willing to give--ohh and be careful what you wish for--Blast away!Charlie

GO FISH
You So Cal boy's need to give it a rest, Go Fish.
I know it is December already and the weather is cool and crisp, not freezing and the bass are still eager to eat your swimbaits.
Now with all that said, go get your boat or hitch a ride with your So Cal buddy and go fishing.
If you don't like one org then simply don't fish it. If you had a bad experience with one org then take it up privately with that org. or simply choose not to fish it, after all you So Cal boys have what 6 or 7 Team Circuits to choose from? Talk about spolied!
Take it from the Japanese, be humble, if you don't like a certain T.D. or the org as a whole then like stated 3 times above, don't give them your money!
Everyone is human and will make mistakes, it is what they due later down the road that will show if they are worthy!
You don't see Aaron or Rojas or any of the other two tour pros bashing either B.A.S.S. or FLW because of rule changes or schedule conflits. You didn't see KVD bash B.A.S.S. after he was DQ'd or any of the other guys this past season. They might not of agreed with it but they took it in stride and kept on going!
So Go out and Fish, don't limit yourselves to computer arguments and bashing of one company or another!
If you want to better the sport then let the orgs compete for your business as they will each have to out do each other to gain business which will make things better for you spoiled so cal fishermen!

hey beever guy I was affected by NBW poor choices, so I don't fish there stuff anymore, I was done when they kicked one of there own to the curb, but the fish off sealed the deal, Now Castaic , wow only hear what you want think its whining its not. YOur right though fish what you like, It just sucks when people don't see the light whats it going to take you actually getting screwed up and personal. also why did it take so long for the pettersons to respond to the ? about castaic? Well how about this for an answer, lets cover all this up with some lame excuse. thats what I see but I'm done bashing its only going to take the rest of you 40 teams who still fish there stuff to get srcewed personally, and then youll be on this board doing the same thing. Re: National Bass West
WHATEVER hippie!
Go ahead and not fish the best paying circuit around. Your losing, not them! They'll just give it to the ones who are willing to take it. Business is business. and people get screwed. Such as life. Move on and take what they have to offer. Do you really think people dont learn from mistakes? Its only gonna get better with a little support. Or just watch them hand out the best paychecks around and wish they didnt screw you somehow? That might get you somewhere.

Hippie,
If you cared about what happened so much at Castaic, why didn't you "sack up", be a man about it, and call Mike or Lynne Peterson for an explanation. Their contact info is right on the NBW web page. Wahhh they didnt reply to my post on some message board in a sufficient amount of time, NBW sucks....wahhhh. If you dont care about NBW then why do you keep posting about them? Seriously man what is going to be your next beef with NBW that you are going to post on this message board or shall I say your personal wailing wall.
