Our club launched there yesterday (sunday the 10th). Launch fee was $15. There are actually 2 docks there, not too long, about 4 boat lengths. When cold, watch out, that metal grate that connects the dock to the launch ramp is really slippery!! with good drivers, you can launch 3 at a time, but 2 is safer....

Yea...$15 is steep but coming from Sac, I usually launch at Markley out of sheer convenience. If the drive to Cappell were a bit shorter I'd launch out of there a lot more.

That's why I drive a little further to Steele Park. They have a hugh launch ramp with three double-sided docks and their launch fee is $10. I dry park my boat there out of necessity, but considering how often I fish, the free pass I get makes it all work out.

I've never launched out of Steele but it could be a happy medium between Cappell and Marley. So how much more driving is it from Markley?

Its cheaper to launch at Markley than Capell if you truck gets ripped off. Also beware at Capell they have painted fire lanes. My friends launched there, and did not see the old paint in the early morning hours. (They are both older guys, and wear corrective lenses.) The fine I believe was 240 bucks. I lose track of what the fine was, because they trashed a trolling motor the same day, and rolled the days expenses into one.

I've never exactly timed it, but I'd say about 20 minutes and it's mostly all down hill.

From Markley to Steele Park?

Post by Larry Hemphill »

Uh, you are going at a pretty good clip if you can tow from Markley to Steele Park in 20 minutes. More like 30-35 minutes?

Lucas

I myself launch out of Markley Canyon for the plain fact as AG had mentioned, knowing your tires, battery, and whatever is in your vehicle at the time is still there when you return.

Another reason I launch there is the fact that you can run in an grab whatever you forgot LOL!!!!! Plus clean Bathrooms. More than glad to pay the $15.00.

Jeez Larry, what kind of pig are u driving? My '70 Ranchero with a pumped up 351 Cleveland hauls my boat easily at 55 to 60 through that stretch. :D
