Lake Comedero

Post by gunnie2 »

I'm going to Lake Comedero the first week in Jan. Have any of you folks fished it before? I've never fished Mexico so any suggestions on tackle, bait, line, medication, or bribes for the federallies, would be appreciated.
Thanks

Comedero is great, top water in the morning, bring large & small top water poppers, jerkbaits I used luckycraft 128 pointers in ghoast minnow, had all the hooks pulled off & split rings streched out., then moved to magumn lizards as the day went on. we had 100 fish days with most in the 4 to 7lb range . Loved my trip there, when I finish hitting all the other Mecxico lakes I'm sure to return to comedero. also I had Steve Beachman make a 7' swimbait rod for me it will be going with me in Jan when I return to Mexico

YES if you're going to Mexico and want to go for big fish take a swimbait rod, Its a trade off, in the trips I have taken 30 to 100 fish days are what we had. If you're willing to drop numbers and go for the big stuff take swinbaits. That is not to say you cant catch nice fish on everything else but swim baits work very well down there. What you have to realise everything works down there first couple of times I went I hauled a lot of stuff down. ended up fishing topwater, jerks and magnum watermelon lizards. I took my swimbaits but was having so much fun catching fish that I kept putting it down to get numbers and numbers down there are 3 to 7lb fish. I dont know what outfitter your going with but I would call him [ I went with Ron Speed adventures] tell him what you want to do [ big fish or numbers] and he should advise you. also read reports from that lake on the web to see what fih are being caught on just before you go down.
