Color Fish Finder

Post by need_a_kicker »

Good Evening All,

I am looking to buy a new fish finder for the front of my boat, I have always used a fishfinder that is in grayscale. I am thinking about upgrading to a color finder. I am looking at the Lowrance x102c, is this a decent finder or should I be looking at something else. I fish local lakes and the Delta for bass, so I don't think that I need a big time finder...or do I...

Thanks in advance for your help!! :?

Go with the color, as you will not regret it, better screen/view, etc.
Also go with a good one, does not have to be top end(for the front of the boat) but you do not want the lower/small scale models either.. Bill K :)
Fun fishing the country, each and every week.

The x102C is what you want. But with that said. The x102C and the 332C are the same as far as the sonar part but the 332 has gps. If you fish the delta you should have gps. If you look real fast. you can find 332s under $500.00. But go color.

:D Go with the 102C, that's what I have on my bow, you're able to see it well in the sunlight, try to mount it using the RAM mount. That way you can always adjust it so you can see it clearly in any light conditions. I love it, as one gets older, as I am, your eyesight isn't quite as good as it once was, along with a lot of other things, lol. The detail is great, you can see your dropshot go right down to the area you're fishing and sometimes actually see the fish take your bait. You don't need GPS on the bow, but it's nice to have on your console. Just my 2 cents.

I know what you mean about getting old, my eyes arent what the used to be. I currently have a gps on my dash so I am not that worried about that. I just want a good unit for my bow, since that is where I spend most of my time. Thanks for all of your help!!

Fishermans warehouse in Manteca was out of the 332 for the $500 special but Westmaine in Stockton matched the price. They also have the 334 with internal antenna for the same price.

Who is BPS? I looked at fisermans warehouse today and they said that they do not have the 102c anymore, that lowrance is not making them anymore. They showed me the x135, the unit looked nice and has more power however it is not color.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

if you want to compare products, go to the Lowrance site under marine products and click on a unit you want. On the new screen under the unit pictured you can click on "compare" and pick another unit to match all the specs and options.

keep in mind, having a gps on the front is handy

I may be asking a dumb question, but why do I need a GPS on the front of the boat? I already have one on my dash. :?:

If you fish down the bank then you don't need a gps on the bow. If you fish structure , island tops, long points then a dedicated gps on bow is something you'll say why did'nt I get one before.

Makes a lot of sense, maybe I should rethink my purchase.
